Texas governor defies Supreme Court ruling, continues to fortify border with razor wire

EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — Texas Gov. Greg Abbott is pushing back and adding more razor wire to the border fence after Monday's Supreme Court ruling that the border patrol can remove the wire along the southern border.

So far, the border patrol in the borderland has not cut down any of the razor wire.

In the meantime, Abbott says he won’t back down despite the Supreme Court’s ruling, and for now, plans to continue to secure the border however he wants to.

“What Governor Abbott is doing is not just unconstitutional, and it’s not just harmful to very vulnerable people, but it is impairing the border patrol's ability to do their job, and it’s the border patrol that is trained and equipped to address migration,” said Congresswoman Veronica Escobar.

Speaking in El Paso Monday, Escobar said she believes Abbott is out of line for adding more razor wire just a day after the Supreme Court issued the ruling.

Abbott posted on X saying, “The Texas National Guard continues to hold the line”

Texas law enforcement in Eagle Pass was also seen putting up more wire on Tuesday.

The reporting on this from both sides is terrible.

The lower courts granted an injunction prohibiting CBP from removing state-owned razor wire as the case of Texas v. the Feds moved forward.

The Supreme Court merely invalidated the injunction, probably because the law is sufficiently unclear as to whether or not the state will win to warrant an injunction.

There was no order prohibiting the state from placing wire. But now CPB can remove it, even if Texas just puts it back right behind them.

The possibility of real conflict comes if Texas tries to stop CBP from removing the wire or arrests CPB agents, which Abbott appears to be avoiding.

To witness a President of this country, open the border to millions of unknowns invading ... To not care what our southern cities are dealing with. To give Healthcare to illegals, flooding the care facilities so citizens can’t get in... To flood the schools with thousands of unvaccinated children. ... To spread them all over the US, and sit in your oval office with half of yourself, and let Obama continue to feed you his answers..

You are out of line... You and your ilk are oblivious to consequences from all you have done.

Court Order only says the Government “May”

Never use 'may' in contractual language.

I agree, but it’s just baffling how the SC would vote this way since Biden is ignoring immigration law.

All border states should be standing with TX.

Supreme Court said that the feds could cut the wire not that it’s illegal to put it up

Was the USSC vote 5-4 on this specific issue? Did the Supremes blink and pretend that Biden’s DOJ was attempting to enforce current laws and that Texas was somehow, preventing that?

Exactly. Biden set the precedent for ignoring the Court. He opened the door for Texas to do what it needs to do to protect its population from invasion, something that is entirely reasonable to most sensible and sane people.

Biden defied the SC with the student loan bailout.

And every college and university continues to defy rulings against race-based admission preferences.

The precedence for ignoring SCOTUS rulings has long been established by the Left.

Thanks for the great summary. Nobody else has explained it that succinctly. It appears you are not paid by the word because you didn’t write 10,000 words.

The part of me that says the USSC is not just being stupid says that maybe what came up from the lower court was not a good argument for the injunction, but I dont know???

I saw a guy commenting that the flood is continuing on either side of the park and that while a terrorist bragged as he crossed the border, Abbott was off in Bombay (Mumbai?) India.

He needs to do more and actually be present when his state is being invaded.
