he head of the Norwegian armed forces is warning fellow NATO countries that they only have “two, maybe three” years to brace for a Russian attack — just days after it was revealed that Germany is preparing for the likelihood as well.
Norwegian Gen. Eirik Kristoffersen claimed Moscow is building up its military stockpile at a rate far faster than previously predicted, all while Western nations have depleted their own weapons by supplying them to Ukraine, according to local outlet Daglabet.
“There is a window now that will perhaps last for one, two, maybe three years, where we have to invest even more in a secure defense,” Kristoffersen told NTB, Norway’s press agency, on Sunday.

Russia is having trouble defeating The Ukraine. Plus, they have lost a lot of manpower and equipment.

Can’t think of a single reason why they would want to go to war with their customers and suppliers.

That they are making more low tech weapons I am sure. The troops not killed or maimed in Ukraine; is the argument that those Russian troops are now “battle-hardened” and ready to rock n roll invading Western Europe after Ukraine? And when will “after Ukraine” really arrive? Will the Russians attempt an occupation?
The Russians have established themselves as a 3rd rate power. Their entire military establishment is consumed with corruption on a massive scale.
General Kristofferson is just trying to scare his own politicians into coughing up money for the military. Obviously that should be done in any event. But, Russians attacking everybody flies in the face of all evidence to the contrary.
Whom do you believe? Capitalist countries have more money to spend on the military unless they blow it on social programs and immigration costs. Then there’s always uncle sugar.
Norway has around 17,000 military personnel.

If the Russians can accept the millions of people they’ve lost in WW2 they can accept more suffering.

That doesn’t mean Putin isn’t crazy or desperate or just getting worse at both.
In the 1930’s Hitler was actually telegraphing what they wanted, particularly in terms of reuiniting with Austria and their grievances with Czechoslovakia and Poland (and needing living space, etc). No one (who mattered) was listening.
It’s better to be prepared and not have it happen then not be prepared and hope it doesn’t happen.
Oh yes. A country with less people than Bangladesh will take over Europe.
Could you imagine the logistics in resupplying forward units in Western Europe from bases in Russia?
The only way Russia could “win” is an unlimited nuclear war with Russian mutants ruling over a Chernobylized Europe.
Can we drop out of NATO now before we have to save all the dumb eurotrash?

Absurd, isn’t it. Russia has all it can do to occupy the Donbas, and they say Russia will attack NATO. Somehow I fear this is a set up for the EU to do something really stupid just down the road a piece.
