Ukraine: Zelensky may soon oust military chief Zaluzhny
Asia Times ^

Rumors are making the rounds in Kiev that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will fire the head of his armed forces, General Valerii Zaluzhny.

Zelensky and Zaluzhny have been at odds for some time. The excuse is likely to be losses in and around Avdeevka, which is a Ukrainian military stronghold just north of Donetsk. The rumor says that Kyrylo Budanov, head of military intelligence, will replace Zaluzhny.

Field reports show that the Russians have advanced in the southern part of the town, knocking out numerous trenches and fortifications, with the Russian operation gaining momentum and strength as new troops are poured into the fight.

There is little doubt that Russia will be successful. While the Ukrainian army may be able to delay the Russians, it lacks any ability to stop them cold. If Ukraine tries to bring in extra forces to bolster its chances, it will open itself up to Russian threats elsewhere along the line of contact.

Avdeevka, no matter its importance, is just an excuse for Zelensky. He needs loyal people around him as his situation becomes more precarious. His European and American allies, who still say they want to give him what he wants in arms and financial aid, understand that Ukraine can’t stand up to Russian military pressure.

That is why Europe is now in a panic and Washington is searching for a new policy. Europe believes that if Russia wins in Ukraine, as now seems likely, then Europe will be threatened by Russia, for which it is not prepared.

Russia won’t be winning anything as long as it continues to flail around on the battlefield

Ukraine isn’t surrendering, they’re doing too good a job of killing Russian monsters

24th month of Putin’s “Special Military Failure” starts tomorrow!

--- "Use your French Canadian money if you wish."

These chaps use words to get other people to send money. It's their way. The Canadian "Loonie" refers to their currency, and sometimes has a more piquant and personal meaning.

Zelenskyy can run the war all by himself (with NATO Mercenaries). He has done such a good job so far. Europe must send Uke draft dodgers back home to fight for liberty and democracy. Every male Ukrainian in NATO nations should be sent home—to include those in the USA. Millions have fled their service to Freedom! Send the cowards home to be cannon fodder! Ukraine could rebuild a new million man army to stop Russia and push on to Moscow!

If you’d ever followed the Russia’s conduct of WWII, you’d know that sacking Generals (at Stalingrad), making Generals compete against each other (or the attack on Berlin), etc. isn’t something new. Russia seems to have plenty of them (US, too). That said, Russia has also lost generals not to sacking or competition, but to combat action - killed. They seem to have replaced them as far as I can tell.

So. Back to UKR, Zelenskyy and his General and Asia Times’ story. Yes, AT apparently favors Russia for the win, but is the whole basis of their story true? Is Zelenskyy thinking about replacing Zaluzhny or not? Would it be more than just a remote possibility? At least this one article from NYT indicates a rift between them. To me, that’s the real question here because I don’t think UKR has enough Generals to go around as with Russia. In the end, we shall see, and it won’t be an LOL - look at Russia thing, IMO.

I think he is a badly informed novice, frankly. In the start, he had a significant amount of support from the ROW and he started out asking for help in a reasonable manner. However, as time worn on and the war progressed he tripled down on his ask and it became begging, pleading, shaming, cajoling, jet-setting to everywhere doing it and getting more and more obnoxious. IMO, he misread the reasons for that initial support and what has continued afterwards and he still hasn’t changed in his manner. As Biden gets nearer and nearer to the election, he will (IMO) effectively dump UKR because the US support isn’t doing the job he wanted - to distract attention away here in the US away from our open border, the disaster of an economy and all rampant spending to support woke-victimology.

You speak from senile Joe’s narrative, ( great leader you have), fewer everyday are buying it.

The odds are increasingly clear, corrupted St Zelensky gets a military 9mm to the back of his head- compliments of the Ukie soldiers that have realized what St Zelensky has not only done to them, but to their country.

Tomorrow we can drive around this town
And let the cops chase us around.
The past is gone, but something might be found
To take its place.
Hey, Zaluzhny.
