Donald Trump says Melania's late mother is 'looking down' from heaven and would be 'proud' after historic Iowa caucus win: Congratulates Haley and DeSantis in battle for second and urges country to 'come together' after huge victory

Donald Trump has called for the U.S. to 'come together' and thanked all of his family after he decimated the rest of the Republican field in the Iowa caucus.

The former president, 77, said wife Melania's late mother Amalija Knavs was 'looking down' from heaven and would be 'proud' of the historic result as he praised all his rivals during the victory lap.

He celebrated after storming to victory in the first primary contest in just 30 minutes by waiting on stage as Lee Greenwood's 'God Bless the USA' played to the crowd.

Trump paid tribute to all of his children, including son Barron who he said was 'watching on TV'.

He said that his 17-year-old son was so tall because he kept eating all of grandmother Knav's food.

Trump then congratulated Nikki Haley and Ron DeSantis as they battled for second time and said they had a 'good time together'.

He also had kind words for Vivek Ramaswamy, just before he announced he was suspending his campaign.

‘I also want to congratulate Vivek because he did one hell of a job. He came from zero … that’s an amazing job,’ Trump said.

But but but MEAN TWEETS and naming people with nasty names and stuff!

I don’t care what anyone says — President Trump is a class act and a pillar of strength and perseverance.

CONGRATULATIONS and MAY GOD BLESS AND CONTINUE TO FAVOR YOU, President Trump! And may He shower His blessings upon your wonderful, loyal, and longsuffering family.

So much GRASPING. Oh my! The impetuous butt-hurt is strong with this one.

Face it, dude (or whatever your pronouns might be) — President Trump kicked your favorite’s ass. Brutally. But do savor your whining, wound-licking moment here. And feel totally free to LASH OUT DAMMIT! It’s all you got.

Over the next few months we will see your nose rubbed in your asininity over... and over... and over... and over...

I’m looking forward to it! :-)

You understand this is a competition right? He was very gracious today. His tone was on point and exactly what he needed to show the country.

“Trump throwing Vivek under the bus”.
Sometimes Trump can be surprisingly practical and realistic, meaning it would not surprise me if Donald Trump phoned Vivek and told him these somewhat sharp remarks were going to be stated by Trump about Vivek.
Perhaps some have been asking “Why is it Trump has never made any negative remarks about Vivek? Not even once!”

If Trump can keep this tone , and push issues not name calling he will win. Trump has the nomination sewn up, lets get on with the big show

Let’s say if Trump keeps this conciliatory tone, he will increase his margin of victory.

For better or worse, he’s going to be our candidate.

With a dichotomous choice, all he has to be is less bad than Biden (a very low bar).

But, if he presents himself as a unifier, seeking to end the terrible divisions we see in the country, he will win big.

I enjoyed the tone of this statesmanlike victory speech, clearly Presidential and in command, unlike diaper brain Biden who was again on vacation at Camp David.
