Their press release is even worse.

PEACOCK EXCLUSIVE AFC WILD CARD GAME IS BIGGEST LIVE-STREAMED EVENT IN U.S. HISTORY & DRIVES INTERNET USAGE TO SINGLE DAY U.S. RECORD
Game Reaches Nearly 28 Million Viewers, with Average Audience Peaking at Nearly 25 Million Viewers From 9:15-9:30 p.m. ET
Dolphins-Chiefs Averages 23 Million Viewers – Most Streamed Event in U.S. History & Topping Last Year’s Saturday Primetime AFC Wild Card Game by 6%
Peacock Registers Biggest Day in its History Driven by NFL Wild Card Exclusive and Entertainment Programming
Buried at the bottom of their press release is this nugget.
NBC Sports’ Saturday afternoon presentation of the Browns-Texans AFC Wild Card Game averaged 29.0 million viewers across NBC, Peacock, NBC Sports Digital, NFL Digital and Telemundo – ranking as the most-watched Saturday NFL Wild Card game on NBC since 2014. Led by Peacock, Browns-Texans delivered a digital Average Minute Audience of 3.1 million viewers — NBC Sports’ largest streaming simulcast of an NFL game, excluding Super Bowl LVI.
So more people watched the Browns-Texans game on network TV then the Chiefs-Dolphins game on streaming and the local broadcast.

This whole season, I could get just about any NFL game on the radio. This was a playoff game and it was a no show on the radio. I wasn’t going to pay for peacock. Such BS. For as long as I can remember, playoff games were broadcast on older networks to get viewers. Peacock??? Forget it.
NBC, Peacock made a bundle.
Wonder what the NFL made from Peacock ?.
That game was only streamed on NBC? I had no idea since I could not have cared less about it.
And I’m a HUGE football fan. Disappointed in my Browns. Stroud was amazing. Dallas’ D was horrible. Could run through a ton of stats if someone wants.
But this game did not even hit my radar. Just didn’t care.
Only streamed? Huh. Who knew.
Meh, I just listened to the Westwood One broadcast on terrestial radio. Screw the stupid streaming crap.
How many were Swifties, who just wanted to see Taylor?
Based on commercials I’ve seen in the NFL games recently are they going to call the sport “Pfizerball”.
People are hooked on NFL but I can take it or leave it.
I watch one NFL game per year: The Stupor Bowl, and that mainly for the commercials.
This dust up is a nothingburger.
I get the NFL channel. I waited until this morning and watched it at breakfast, skipping commercials. Awful but interesting nonetheless. I can’t wait to see Steven A. react to the Cowboys drubbing.
NBC has had a difficult time getting viewership for Peacock. They cut rates several times. IIRC, one price last year was around $20 for a the year subscription.
I ‘watched’ the gamecast on NFL.com.
I was surprised that the game wasn’t on local tv in Palm Beach County, as it was in Dade and Broward. I guess nearly 1/3rd of a fan base doesn’t qualify as a local market anymore for the nfl and nbc.
That said, it took me two text messages to get a friend to lend me his peacock log-in stuff and I watched the game.
All for some chick hitting the wall at 34+.
I wonder how many people signed up for a month and will cancel now that they’ve seen the game? It would be interesting to see the comparative subscription numbers for January vs February.
The majority are probably Swifties. There are millions of them.
“Those who didn’t have a subscription to the platform but wanted to watch game didn’t have much choice but to pay for one.”
Sure there was another choice... Just say no.
Well good for Disney. They should make all the games like that. Maybe people will wise up and get out and do something instead of wasting their time on a stupid football game.
Today any hot cable show wil move spin-offs etc to streaming on a related platform for extra $$
Yellowstone for example
First sporting event I’ve seen do it
We had peacock already
It sucks
