The rising cost of housing is keeping many Gen Zers from living on their own.

A recent Credit Karma survey of 1,249 U.S. adults found that 31 percent of Gen Z live at home with a parent or other family member.

And this number could go up.

Among Gen Zers that have left the nest, 27 percent told Credit Karma that they can no longer afford their rent.

The struggle to make rent is causing some to reconsider their living arrangements, with 25 percent of Gen Z and millennial renters saying they are thinking about moving in with family or friends to make ends meet.

What did you expect from a generation that can figure out which bathroom to use?

The same ones that take mommy or daddy to their job interviews.

With hands aching from carpal tunnel after ten hour video game marathons.

In 1966 when I was 18 I moved out of my parents house and got a small apartment. Rent was $18 per week. I could afford it while working at A&W Root Beer. Try that today

The greatest generation enthusiastically voted for the policies that created what we have today.

The struggle to make rent is

Is mostly due to more work habits and poor spending habits. Paying $25 dollars to have a Big Mac delivered by Grubhub etc. will eat your paycheck in a few days. I've never seen any of them pack a lunch like I did for decades.

I encounter these Gen Z’ers everyday in transactions. As a whole, they are so stupid I don’t see now they manage to dress themselves every day.

I love to pay cash and give them odd change as payment. Their brains can’t compute it.

Many times when I ask one these kids for something or help, they get confused and I ask them if they can call their Dad for help. They look puzzled and ask why and I tell them I bet he knows what to do. Pisses them off pretty good.

“...31 percent of Gen Z live at home with a parent or other family member...”
***********************************************************

With “Gen Z” being born between 1997 and 2012, statistically more than half weren’t old enough to vote for anyone in 2020.

Frankly, I’m surprised that a larger percentage don’t “live at home with a parent or other family member”. I would expect nearly half.

I remember when Gen Z was born between 1996 and 2010. They keep changing the dates.

We have some friends with kids about the same ages as ours, mid 20’s to early 30’s.

Ours were all out and on their own by 19-20 and are all doing well.

Theirs are all still at home. One has worked at McDonald’s for ten years. He did earn a bachelors degree at a local college but doesn’t seem to have any sort of real plan beyond getting a doctorate in history.

One is a trucker and seems to be doing the best financially of them all. One of mine is also a trucker and makes a very good income.

Their mom makes a point that apartment rent is very high. So what? Find roommates, rent a dump in a rough area.

My friends just need to lay it down and say Get out and grow up.

I wouldn’t care if they are my kids. Anyone who hates Veterans and America would not be allowed to live in my house. Tell me that they’re not patriotic and I’d dropkick their ass through the goalposts of life. They can have their little, pink “My Little Pony” backpack and expensive Star Wars water bottle and I’ll let ‘em fly. They can take their Panda Express “bowl” with them also.

The house I grew up in was $100k in 1972
It sold for $3.5 mil two years ago. Taxes are $35 k
Per year

Down the road, in a less expensive hood a 1700 sq foot house is $950 k and $17k per year taxes

The country is $34trillion with a T in debt and it was $8 trillion after Obama got through with it 10 years ago

Congress collects lifetime retirements after 2 years of grifting

My school was $1100 per year now same school is $38,000 per year

Mothers left these kids with strangers in day care at age 6 WEEKS. and people expect them to adjust. That’s something God will inquire about at the pearly gates.

But the freepers love to rag on these kids.

It’s outrageous.

I read all this stuff from Gen Z folks. Yet, they don’t seem to want to get married or have a career. Those two things are the biggest factor in getting out of your parent’s house.

The American Dream is difficult to get as a solo player.

Mothers left these kids with strangers in day care at age 6 WEEKS.

Even worse, they enrolled them in public schools over the past 40 years getting taught that climate change, abortion, and big government are to be worshipped.

There are parts of the country where rent is affordable. Might not be the areas of the country Gen Zers want to live in, but beggars can't be choosers. And it's got to be better than living at home with your parents as an adult.

This is stupid. The youngest Gen Z would 11 years old, shouldn’t they live with their parents?

There was NO presidential election in 1966, ergo, you must be talking about House of Representative elections, which doesn't fit your ridiculous blame-game story.

War Babies were able to vote in 1966 and they are NOT part of "THE GREATEST GENERATION".

The blame, for each generations' supposed "misdeeds" falls heavily on the parents and child rearing advice books, especially Dr. Spock's, had terminally bad advice, which began the downward spiral of many of those belonging to future generations.
