In 2023, McDonald's made the headlines quite a few times, whether it was for Grimace milkshakes, limited-edition meals, or its brand-new sister restaurant. But in the midst of all the excitement and newness is a story that seems to have been lost in the shuffle: when the fast food chain promised to make its burgers bigger and better.
Back in Spring 2023, McDonald's announced it was tweaking its Big Mac to taste even more delicious, with softer buns, better tasting toppings, and even more of that sweet, sweet Big Mac sauce on every burger. And just last month, McDonald's CEO Chris Kempczinski told CNN the burgers would not only be better in 2024, but they'd also be bigger. “In the U.S., in a number of markets, around the world, having a larger burger is an opportunity…That is something that you should expect in the future.”
Well, we're just over a week into the year but it seems that “future” is now, and McDonald's is making good on its promise. That's because it just quietly brought back a new-and-improved Big Mac that looks better and is most certainly bigger. Meet: the Double Big Mac.

Can you also provide double bacon, for each half as well?
I am not kidding.
Not one bit.
Have a Double Big Mac and fast for two days.
Introducing, the “mRNA Burger”!! Mmmmmmm-mmmm! Hold the Mayo (Clinic)
I was concerned that it would be a burger made from insects.
Uh, no special sauce.
I always disliked the special sauce.
People should read the ingredients on the tube of Big Mac sauce. The tube is about 12" high. The ingredient list is in a very small font and goes from the top of the tube to the literal bottom - encompassing 180 degrees of the tube.
How do I know this? I worked there for a number of years.
That was my first thought. Would they tell us of it was?
I gave up on McDonald’s after my kids left puberty.
I confess I do like McDonald’s from time to time.
But I can’t afford paying full price — $6.99 for a single Big Mac sandwich, and $7.29 for a single Quarter Pounder with Cheese. That’s a lot of money to pay at a fast food restaurant in a little town in Arizona.
More “meat”?
I thought there was a sawdust shortage?
Special sauce is equal parts mustard, ketchup and mayo. Nothing special.
“Now with more molecules!”
People with red meat allergies can eat McDonalds burgers 🍔 with no reaction.
Dang! I always thought it was just some variation of mayo, ketchup and pickle relish. I haven’t had a Big Mac in years, but they were a staple in my high school and college days.
Only eat there for breakfast. Only sausage I like.
That Double-Mac is over the top.
Even my mouth is not big enough to eat it like a normal sized burger. I would need the detatchable lower jaws of a python to swallow it whole.
Of course, the solution is very simple, open the burger like a book” and eat as two separate sandwiches. Viola!
I always ask for the sauce on the side, since they insist upon applying it with a trowel. (I say always, but it’s less than once a year).
