Currently, numerous law enforcementare at the scene of a riot at the Chabad headquarters in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, where individuals tore wooden panels to prevent a cement truck from sealing off the recently discovered tunnels. Police intervened by ripping wooden panels to thwart the cement truck's actions. The underground tunnels, secretly built by a group, including members of the Jewish community, about 6 months ago in an attempt to expand the iconic synagogue, were the focal point. Despite police intervention, numerous people refused to vacate the tunnels, leading to the arrest of at least ten individuals after a scuffle with the NYPD inside 770.

Something is not adding up here, what was the reason. I find it odd that anyone thinks people build tunnels to “expand” anything.

Why are the Jewish community rioting over this, if they didnt build them?
One thing I am aware is that New York makes it near impossible for conservative Jews to get building permits. So, whatever the purpose of these tunnels are, it looks like they were trying to bypass the regulatory regime.

The Chabad-Lubavitch movement publicly disavows those beliefs.
Exactly! None of it adds up. It's as if they're laying out a welcome mat to Hamas.
Just tell the cops you are building the tunnels for hamas and they’ll leave you alone.
Given what Muslims did to hundreds of cops & fireman in 2001, they might not be so “understanding.” I get your point though.
I read it as tunnel connecting two Chabad buildings not adjacent.
Jews could probably see a reason for secret escape routes and hiding places IF they study history.

That thing some people did in 2001 has mostly been forgotten.
It’s probably a lack of building permit issue.
And forget safety inspections.
Because it’s cool to dig tunnels. Just don’t dig them where there are high rise buildings.
