Former President Trump said in an interview that aired Monday that he predicts the U.S. economy will crash and that he hopes it does so within the next year.
In the interview with Lou Dobbs, Trump, the current front-runner in the GOP presidential primary race, explained that, if he were elected again, he would not want to serve a term similar to President Hoover’s — who took office when the economy was stable but later oversaw the start of the Great Depression.

How dare you criticize the Oracle!!!
Ditto here... I was certain there was going to be real trouble after the election.. No way would the people put up with such bold in your face cheating at the poles.! I was wrong.. I guess we're all transgender now.. More proof of that, just LOOK at the southern border... :(
He doesn’t want to be Hoover, because he gives a dam.
FDR was initially an admirer of Mussolini’s economic reforms.
Hoover was a very good man, but at heart he was a progressive, not a conservative. He tried to solve a recession with government action and turned it into the great depression.
I never read that in the things I have read about FDR
Calvin Coolidge said that Herbert Hoover was the last person he would ever take advice from on anything especially the economy. So who ended up being right about how to handle things Coolidge, not Hoover. And you were right Hoover bought into a lot of the progressive politics at the time, and was certainly no conservative.
“although he probably had little or nothing to do with the causes of the crash.”
That’s true, but he signed the Smoot-Hawley tariff act which started a tariff war. This made the depression worse then what it was.
If the economy crashes, it’s going to be for several reasons, and some of the groundwork was certainly lead by Trump. He had a chance to solve a number of problems and he didn’t do it. The biggest problem he could’ve solved was the healthcare cost problem that is eating up our federal budget. He campaign that he would and then once he won, he forgot all about it.
I’m not particularly optimistic that he learned his lesson is the first time around. Should he get back in for a second term will he continue to make the same mistakes as two people he appoints to government positions or will he learn the lessons from the first term?
We’ll blow past $35T…or 36 by 1/20/25.
There’s no coming back to restraint.
When people say that Trump failed, I have to ask. What could he have done with a hostile House and Senate that would not sign off on anything he proposed to lay the groundwork to repair America and bring it back from the brink?
Oh sure, he could have deigned to sign bills, but the messaging would have been in Unison that Trump was unwilling to sign bills and nothing is boing to get done.
I don’t blame Trump at all.
BINGO! The left destroy. The Right fixes.....well maybe now.
Not much truth written about FDR. He was a very bad president and not a very good man.
It takes a horrible person to wish ill fortunes on all Americans, no matter the reason. Obviously he wants it to happen on the mere chance it might, might, help him become President, but that’s still a terrible selfish wish that everyone else suffer on some mere chance he might personally benefit.
The Federal Government now spends more money on Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, interest on the National Debt, and defense than it collects in taxes. So without cuts to those categories, even if the government totally eliminated all other spending, the budget still wouldn’t balance.
These massive deficits in spending every year, by every president of late, has kept the system barely functioning. The only ‘growth’ we get now has been massive deficits and debt, and Republican and Democrat voters show no interest in stopping that spending.
I strongly recommend The Forgotten Man by Amity Schlaes about FDR economics.
We have an economy that’s so fragile, and the only reason it’s running now is it’s running off the fumes of what we did,” Trump said. “It’s just running off the fumes.”
Trump added: “And when there’s a crash — I hope it’s going to be during this next 12 months because I don’t want to be Herbert Hoover.
Installed King Brandon should own it..
Stolen elections have consequences
The latest version of Bidenomics is handing illegals a $5,000 debit card when they cross the border and get a court date. I wonder how many of those court date notices are made out to Jose Jimenez or Juan Valdez.
I hear you and I agree, but I’m the only person in the world that is prepared to forgo his pension as much as I have been forced to pay into it if that’s what it takes to fix the finances. But I’ve had discussions with Freepers who demand their pensions when their time comes.
If you think the economy is going to crash and all hell will break loose, wouldn’t it be smarter to run up the debt and stock up?
