Former President Trump said in an interview that aired Monday that he predicts the U.S. economy will crash and that he hopes it does so within the next year.
In the interview with Lou Dobbs, Trump, the current front-runner in the GOP presidential primary race, explained that, if he were elected again, he would not want to serve a term similar to President Hoover’s — who took office when the economy was stable but later oversaw the start of the Great Depression.

What he is saying is that he knows the economy is going to crash, but he doesn’t want to wear it because he didn’t crash the economy.
He’d be the one to try and fix it for good.
I totally agree with him but the left will twist these words...as usual.
For sure they want to dump a mess on him IF he even gets through the legal gauntlet & becomes POTUS.
He could be a bit more cautious about soundbites that WILL be used in ads against him. Why give up unforced errors unless he us unable not to. That raises further concerns and I’m a died in the wool Trump supporter. SmH.
I feared the economy would crash when Biden got into office, which is why I paid-off all my debt as quickly as I could after the steal of 2020.
What he is saying is that he knows the economy is going to crash, but he doesn’t want to wear it because he didn’t crash the economy.
He’d be the one to try and fix it for good.
Sane people know this.
The unhinged leftist media and TDSers, haven’t a clue.
He remains very bad at political speak. But, I guess that’s what we love about him. He talks like us.
I get it. Hoover became President in March of 1929 and the Great Depression happened in October, so around 6 and a half months later.
Hoover was stuck with the economy and his name was always attached to it, although he probably had little or nothing to do with the causes of the crash.
So Trump is hoping he doesn’t inherit a wobbling Biden economy that collapses shortly after he is inaugurated in 2025.
Didn’t come across well though.
Predicting is OK....hoping is unwise.Very unwise.
Every week my grocery bill goes higher and higher. EVERY ding dong week. Coupons and sales can’t keep up, and I consider myself a savvy shopper. I’ve been a penny pincher tightwad for as long as I can remember.
Being a good communist, FDR used the crisis of the Great Depression (which was basically caused by the Federal Reserve and Govt) to make radical changes to government and social policy.
Trump should WELCOME an economic crisis as an opportunity to fundamentally reform government, Wall Street, and the economy.
Trump’s going to be blamed if the economy collapses in the next 50 years whether he’s re-elected or not.
One of our nations most serious problems is the fact that the federal reserve has the autonomous power to crash the economy anytime it wishes.
Pretending they don’t have political preferences is folly.
Noticed that none of Trump’s words were quoted. Ze klikbate?
Hoover was by profession an engineer, who thought he could fix anything by applying brute force. Economies don’t work like that. He did everything wrong, and FDR doubled down on it.
Trump won’t do that.
Because there is absolutely nothing Trump can do to prevent the left media from twisting his words and making up stories. Not a thing.
They have treated every single republican this way for the past 60 years (or more).
I always thought Herbert Hoover was a good guy.. (?)
Why do we have so many posts from The Hill? They are as almost bad as AP.
FDR wasn't a communist, but he WAS an idiot when it came to economics, and let himself be led around by the nose by people who WERE communists. All he ever cared about was his personal popularity in the media.
Another stupid ass thing to say.
