Assuming that pic is legit, doesn’t the washer look undersized for the hole let alone the nut not tightened down?

Those look like lock-washers, but they should have a flat washer behind them.

Boeing moved HQ to Chitcago.

Yup. They built a big posh regional HQ just south of Seattle where a horse race track once stood. That building is now vacant if I recall.

The Alaska Air maintenance crew that failed to preserve the flight data recorder data needs to be fined and fired.

“Honda has always required its CEO to be an engineer who rose through the ranks. Maybe Boeing should consider doing the same?”

Many people think so, too, but diversity and perversity first!

I would say that inexperienced employees were installing the door. I have removed and reinstalled countless panels and never had one fall off.

Did they fail to, or were they ordered to.

Interestingly, NASA says lock washers of the sort we’ve all probably used for decades, are worthless.

Boeing moved to SC with Nikki Haley's help and subsequent placement on the BOD. nice work if you can get it. Loose screws in Haley AND on the aircraft in critical areas of the vehicle. Union costs are the least of Boeings problems— starting with idiotic DEI management. Used to be a great company.

These doors have nothing to do with NC. They are built and installed by Spirit in Wichita and shipped semi rigged to Renton. The doors are removed in Renton for interior installation and then rigged for final delivery in Renton.

Muilenberg had an exemplary engineering career, he worked his way up via various failed programs to where he could launch the 737 Max

>>Can’t beat union made.

An adversarial relationship between workers and management does not result in quality products.

“ Can’t beat union made”
Look for
That union label
When you are looking for a 737, 787, or tripple 7
You know that somewhere
That union worker
Is grifting for a new bribe….

“Boeing provides the door opening and the airline puts in the plug”

According to several fairly authoritative remarks I’ve read that’s not the case.

I often use star lock washers — either internal or external — when I’ve got them but this is just hack work on dirt bikes mostly.

I always liked the nyloc “aircraft nuts” when I was working on dirt bikes. This was a *long* time ago.
