The Muslim holiday known as Eid al-Fitr could become an official state holiday in Pennsylvania.
House Bill 1752, sponsored by a trio of Democrat representatives in the Philadelphia area, would provide “for the annual designation and holiday observance of the first day of the Islamic lunar month of Shawwal as Eid al-Fitr Day in this Commonwealth.”
Eid al-Fitr, one of two major Muslim holidays, is celebrated at the end of Ramadan, a month of intermittent fasting and religious observances.
According to a House memo, the holiday “includes two to three days of celebrations, and it begins with a special prayer service at the mosque.”
Rep. Tarik Khan (D-Philadelphia County), one of the bill’s co-sponsors, referenced William Penn’s legacy as support for the government’s promotion of the Islamic holiday.
...
While Penn did argue for religious freedom, he did so within the context of the Christian religion. For example, Penn oversaw the enactment of the “Great Law,” the original body of laws enacted by the commonwealth’s legislature in 1682. The preamble reveals Penn’s goal: to “make and establish such laws as shall best preserve true Christian and civil liberty in opposition to all un-Christian licentious and unjust practices.” The 17th century statutes also required that members of civil government in Pennsylvania be Christians who “profess and declare they believe in Jesus Christ to be the Son of God the Savior of the World.”
Khan added that the official recognition of Eid al-Fitr would be a “testament to the growth of the U.S. as a multi-faith and multicultural country.”
Other co-sponsors include Representatives Carol Kazeem (D-Delaware County) and Jason Dawkins (D-Philadelphia County).
The bill passed the House in November 2023 with a vote of 134-69, with 32 Republicans voting in favor, including Representatives Tim Bonner, Tom Jones, and Brett Miller.
Rep. Dave Zimmerman, who voted against the bill, told The Lancaster Patriot that there “are many holidays within the religions,” and he does not want the state to go down a path of officially recognizing them all.
“In America, anyone may celebrate a holiday whether it is on the calendar or not,” Zimmerman said. “The identified holidays now on the calendar are federally sanctioned. Identifying these by states could become confusing for people.”
Matt Kenitzer, pastor of St. John’s Reformed Church in Friedensburg, Pennsylvania, told The Lancaster Patriot that the real problem with the bill is that it recognizes a false religion.
“By the government recognizing a false religion’s holiday they will answer for their iniquity like every other civil servant of God that does evil in the sight of God,” Kenitzer said in a statement. “As they do this they will continue to lead the people of this country in the downgrade that we are in to full pluralistic democratic humanism under the guise of love, tolerance, and freedom of religion. Sadly many Christians will support this.”
Last year, the Lancaster County Commissioners similarly recognized a non-Christian religion when they signed a proclamation celebrating Hindu festivals in Lancaster County.
The bill to recognize Eid al-Fitr as a state holiday is currently in committee in the State Senate.
Based on the lunar calendar. Happens 28 days (approximately) earlier every year. No set date. Could land on 12/25.
“ Just don’t be The Change they Jihad over lol.”
I think I’ll continue to be Christian and especially non Muslim and the ragheads can go to hell and be bombed by the IDF.
“Hey, they’re coming.
Worldwide Islamic Supremacy.
Soon, but not yet.”
I agree. muslims are motivated, and want the fight. The children of Christians are weak, and leaving the religion. They will accept muslims because it shows what good people they are. I hope that comforts them on their way down after being thrown off a tall building.
Quote
first day of the Islamic lunar month of Shawwal as Eid al-Fitr Day in this Commonwealth.”
....
Ezekiel 46:1
Thus saith the Lord GOD; The gate of the inner court that looketh toward the east shall be shut the six working days; but on the sabbath it shall be opened, and in the day of the new moon it shall be opened.
First day of lunar month in bible= Day of the New Month(Moon)
A day the gate at the temple would be open..
A day where markets and stores would be closed (Amos 8:5)
A day where feasts/banquets were held
A day, once a month, at the start of each month, with what some Americans would see closer to a combined American Thanksgiving and American Christmas...
A day that doesn’t commemorate any of His 6 work days or His Sabbath Day either..
What does it commemorate then if not one of the 6 Days of Creation or the Sabbath?
Something Islam,Judaism and Christianity will find out eventually.
“ The children of Christians are weak, and leaving the religion. They will accept muslims because it shows what good people they are”
As we have already witnessed by the complete takeover of homosexuality in ALL of the major denominations
I couldn’t recommend a single one as I just told my Catholic mother of 85 years old
Since ‘burn a Koran day’ might be considered a hate crime, how about a ‘turn in a Koran day’ or ‘Koran recycling day’? Offer Bibles in exchange or gift certificates to a Chick Fil’A or better yet to some local favorite pork BBQ.
Insanity!
Is eid the “free to kill a Jew” holiday?
Murdering Jews seems to be the only thing muslims agree on and are good at.
Ramadan goes out with a bang. The residents of Ramallah and Gaza, with encouragement from Iran and its proxies, are gearing up for Eid al-Fitr by preparing sweets to distribute whenever a Jew is gunned down or stabbed to death.

> They’re not that bad tho. Very traditional and family-centric. I like them a lot. <
If you want to know what a nice, friendly Muslim is all about, just ask him to honestly answer these three questions:
1. What should happen to anyone who mocks Mohammed?
2. What should happen to anyone who defiles the Koran?
3. What should happen to anyone who leaves the Muslim religion?
Any honest Muslim will respond:
1. death
2. death
3. death
There is a fourth question. Don’t bother asking it because you’d never get an honest answer.
4. What should happen to an infidel who refuses to convert? (death, of course).
No other major religion thinks this way, questions 1 to 4. We ignore it at our own peril.
Well, so was I. But I was usually heavily protected with loose ROEs so ...everybody friends. Always best to be polite and cordial -with a UHF, CAS freq and call sign on hand.
They frequently adhere to honor and with a foreigner will usually go all-honorable before they detonate. They don’t want to die with dishonor? If you see them act in a weird way that’s your Go signal. Fight or flight. But sometimes they just want a talk/fight/resolution. No problem there. And when you make a friend it’s a good friend.

From what I gather he found the FBlie up there too.
To her credit (I’m not a fan) Ann Coulter said once holidays are different for Muslims and Christians. At Easter and Christmas the US has families visiting loved ones, festive meals, gift giving and celebrations and Church attendance.
For times while Muslims observe their holidays such as Ramadan the airports and public buildings have extra guards and possible shutdowns for threats, there are bomb threats and sometimes abductions and killings by terrorists.
Islam prefers beheading as their method of murder ("jihad").
When it all comes crashing down - before the end of this century IMO - LOTS of heads will be rolling.
There's a fair amount of reference to this in the Book of Revelation Chapters 6-19 - the "tribulation" AKA the wrath of the Lamb AKA Daniel's 70th Week.
As "revealed" in the Book of Revelation and elsewhere in the Bible, Islamic Jihad will be one of God's methods of pouring out his wrath upon unrepentant man. It won't be pretty and NOBODY wants to be there when it happens - not even the Muslims.
Love how a holiday is called diE backwards and they celebrate it!
Given the fact that I drive for a living, and my shift usually runs from 3:00 PM to midnight, and on the winter solstice, sunrise was 8:37 AM and sunset was 4:31 PM, I look forward to the winter solstice, as the days start getting longer, making driving easier. Celebrate it? Of course not, but look forward to it? Certainly!
Unfortunately, it also means 3-4 months of snow and ice on the roads. This is not good, especially as there has been almost 100k people move to Calgary in the last year, mostly from countries that do not suffer from snow. Winter driving is sooooo fun with these people on the roads!
My favorite in Muslim holiday fun is the Shia holiday (I forget the name!) where they cut each other as acts of worship & celebration.
“What about all the solstice holidays for the witches?”
That was my first thought. Because, really, paganism is the world’s oldest religion. Primitives celebrated the seasons before someone taking a dip in the Ganges first conceived the idea of Vishnu.
