Abbott has take on the border issue. I may write him in as Prez.

It’s not a question of Abbott lacking purity. The issue he did next to nothing for almost 3 years while Texas was overrun by millions of illegals.

Do not know about being a Bushie. The thing he did that really upset me, was how he handled (or did not handle covid). He announced shut downs in what March or May and then not a word again until August or Sept. Nothing from the Governors office. While DeSantis and Florida were reopening in early summer.
His plan to send illegal aliens to sanctuary cities showed leadership. My expectation was he would continue to ramp this up if only to reduce the load on the border. He took a risk and it paid off big, good for him. overall not a bad governor. Moved to Florida last year so not keeping track of Texas politics as well.

He’s a Bushie

If Abbott is a "Bushie," I can't find a single instance of Abbott endorsing George P. Bush during either his Land Commissioner run or his Attorney General run.

It would be very unlikely for a "Bushie" to fail to endorse the only Bush running for political office, especially in Texas.

I was against shipping illegals to other states but I now think I was wrong.
Now everyone sees how they are damaging the economy of the USA

Biden’s policies have made sure that there is no “crisis” at the border . Dems have allotted enormous resources to process people through the border fast, giving them papers that make them legal to be in the USA until a hearing some time in the future and then shipping them all around the country. The crisis is inside the USA but not at the border.

Dems are so dishonest. They get away with it because the propaganda media promotes whatever the Dems want.

He was an up and comer in Republican circles in Harris County (the heart of Bush country) in the 1990’s, and was appointed to the Texas Supreme Court seat by GWB.

He’s firmly in the River Oaks RINO establishment orbit, always has been.

It would be better if he found a way to keep them from coming into the country. Shipping them to blue areas is only a short-term fix since those "immigrants" are likely to be sent to red areas by the Democrats. It isn't actually solving the problem, just shifting it to someone else.

Then why didn't he endorse George P. Bush?

“I think the proper question when looking at someone’s position on Paxton is not necessarily whether they supported him or not but whether they *opposed* him.”

GREAT ANSWER - I’m with you that. The REAL PROBLEM in Texas politics are many (perhaps most) of the Republicans the Texas House, and their behavior towards Paxton OUTED them. Hopefully, they’ll pay the price for their behavior.

“So why hasn’t Abbott secured the state’s elections...?”

Because he’s governor, not dictator. The other HUGE PROBLEM in Texas is our state Supreme Court, which is GOP but has blocked the state government, as in Paxton, from doing anything about the crap going on in our cities.

Paxton is personally going after that bunch.

The Leftists in Texas seem to have figured out that the Democrats cannot win, so they now call themselves Republicans, get money from God knows where (maybe Soros), and are winning elections, both in the State House and the State Supreme Court.

Governor Abbott is just practicing social democracy by making sure that every sanctuary has it’s fair share of illegal aliens. Texas already has far more than it’s fair share.

Unlike Biden Abbott can not wave his hand and make a laws, that’s the duty of the legislature. Just remember your asking them to reform the electoral system that they rode into office on.

Abbott has the authority as governor of Texas to secure the borders if the Fed isn’t doing their job of securing the borders of the country. He swore an oath to uphold the constitution of the USA and in it is to have secure borders.
