Colorado’s ruling to disqualify Trump sets up a showdown at supreme court. <p> The conservative-dominated court, to which Trump appointed three stringent rightwingers, will pitch into the partisan fight

Arising from one of four criminal indictments that have generated 91 charges, that case – concerning elected subversion if not incitement of insurrection – has produced intense scrutiny of Clarence Thomas, the longest-serving justice and a hardline conservative also at the centre of an ethics scandal.

Thomas’s wife, Ginni Thomas, is a hard-right activist who was deeply involved in attempts to overturn Trump’s 2020 defeat by Joe Biden, a defeat which according to Trump’s lie was the result of electoral fraud.

With the Colorado ruling, calls for Clarence Thomas to recuse from cases involving Trump will no doubt increase – and no doubt continue to be ignored.

On Tuesday, the progressive strategist Rachel Bitecofer said: “Justice Thomas will get to weigh in on whether Trump engaged in insurrection for the same plot his own wife helped organise. Extraordinary.”

They have no shame.

Having to rely on the SCOTUS does not give me a warm fuzzy.

OK so if we get all the red states to eliminate ALL dems from the ballot so only repubs win-sounds fair-The dems set the rules. We can say that biden/harris are committing TREASON by letting an INVASION into the US.

Trump has not been found guilty of anything re insurrection so we can just SAY biden has committed TREASON and disqualify ALL dems on the ballot.

This writer is a complete idiot. The Court is not conservative, it has two real conservatives, three radical Leftists and four wishy-washy justices. Also, the three Trump appointed are hardly “stringent right wingers”. This is just more Leftist dribble from the Guardian who wouldn’t know the truth from a hole in the ground.

"Conservative Supreme Court ?"

Not hardly. 3 liberals, 2 conservatives, and 4 squishes including the Trump appointees. A decision favoring Trump is not a slam dunk.

The case will probably get overturned so the writer wants to set up the idea that it’s a “conservative” Supreme Court instead of Colorado state court being idiots

We can say that biden/harris are committing TREASON by letting an INVASION into the US.

No, they violated the oath of office to uphold the Constitution. That’s clear in the 14th amendment. The laws that govern illegal aliens are codified in law, and the DOJ as well as Biden/Harris administration have ignored the existing laws set forth by Congress. That’s failure to uphold the Constitution, and therefore, ALL DEMOCRATS THAT HAVE SUPPORTED THIS ADMINISTRATION MUST BE REMOVED FROM ALL STATE BALLOTS.

That’s how you do it.

So the real question is, what have the Electors done to be denied a place on the ballot, as Trump’s name is not actually on the ballot.

The state court has no right to deny the citizens of Colorado to run for the FEDERAL office of Elector.

How can they possibly get away with this?

More importantly, the ELECTORS have not been found guilty of anything and have a perfect right to run for this federal office of Elector.

The people are not voting for Trump or Biden, they are voting for electors!

I thought that there was an investigation and the House concluded that there was no insurrection.

Secondly, the man was never convicted of instigating a insurrection.

The Manchester Guardian: Britain’s oldest commie rag.

You nailed it.

Clarence Thomas, a "hardline conservative, wife, Ginni Thomas, "a hard-right activist who was deeply involved in attempts to overturn Trump’s 2020 defeat", "Trump’s lie" re "electoral fraud", "whether Trump engaged in the same plot his own wife [Mrs. Thomas] helped organize.

The author chooses to ignore that the U.S. Constitution provides for a remedy in a Special Session if there is any concern about election irregularities. That session was scheduled re the last election on Jan6.

The young people in my family are being told that what occurred on Jan6 was not an insurrection but an appearance primarily by concerned, patriotic Americans. Those Americans given the abundance of evidence of multiple irregularities, gathered to demand the remedy be exercised.

Dem Pelosi et al arranged for a disorderly event that was intended to appear as an insurrection so as to interfere with that exercise and hasten its conclusion. Trumps's involvement was limited to urging for order and civility.
