Elon Musk: We Shouldn’t Demonize Oil & Gas In Short Term

Tesla CEO Elon Musk says that demonizing oil and gas is not the way to go into the future.

When speaking in Italy on Saturday, the billionaire said that the life-saving fossil fuels are necessary in the short and medium term for the betterment of humanity.

“I don’t think we should demonize oil and gas, I think we should say look that is obviously necessary in the short term and the medium term too,” Musk stated.

He also said that alternatives are still decades away from being sustainable and that some concerns about so-called climate change are overblown.

One would have to be a politician to not realize this.

Elon is right on the money. He DOES use RP1 in his Falcon and Starship vehicles. He knows the score.

We should use them until something far superior takes their place by virtue of their obvious higher qualities and cost.
And realistically, they will be needed forever as aircraft and marine fuels.
Home electricity should go soon to modern small reactor systems.
And yes, someday there will be environmentally benign fusion plants.

The end of “fossil” fuels is the end of food.

Not that there’s anything wrong with that. </sarcasm>

Telsa’s charging stations in the middle of nowhere are powered by diesel. Just saying.

True that. And Tesla makes money selling carbon credits when the rest of us use oil (oil refineries buying RIN's). So Musk/Tesla are better off with a combination of the country using fossil fuels as much as ever, but being punished for it.

Elon Musk: We Shouldn’t Demonize Oil & Gas In Short Term

We shouldn't demonize oil and gas in the long term, either - the only people who have any standing to criticize the use of oil and gas are the people who are making vigorous nuclear power plant construction a reality. And those people don't exist, not in the US anyway.

It seems everything promoted by our elites in DC seems designed to hobble America and impoverish average Americans.

If we rid ourselves of fossil fuels as fast as the Democrats seem to desire, there will be no EVs because the industry needed to produce them will be in ruins. Fossil fuels are what sustains wealth in society, at least until someone discovers how to tap into Dark Energy.

The way to get past fossil fuels is to drill and dig all we can get. That will fuel industry and innovation until something is developed that can actually replace fossil fuels. Government mandate delays all that and will bring the economy crashing down into a dark age.

So we go all nuclear. Then what replaces all the plastic that is petroleum based?

He sure is.

I don’t agree with him on everything.

But he is a brilliant engineer, businessman, and apparently, leader.

On most things that count, I see him as an ally.

ALSO the end of space exploration.

And that would be a mistake, because there is an abundance of hydro-carbon materials in space in asteroids and planetoids. A near infinite supply. Elon Musk knows this, and plans to create rocket fuel on the Moon and Mars. It is not a one-way trip for his Starship rockets that are reusable with just enough fuel to get there; he will refuel them there (once the factories are built). Then humans will have all the fuel they need for ICE motors, forever.
