Ukrainian troops fighting on Dnipro river say official claims of success are misleading: 'There are no positions. It's a suicide mission'

Ukrainian soldiers and marines told The New York Times that the Dnipro river front is brutal. They contradicted official reports that they have gained a foothold on the eastern bank. They said that Ukrainian soldiers are dying in huge numbers and that it is a "suicide mission."

In recent months, the banks of the Dnipro river have taken center stage in the war in Ukraine, with Ukrainian officials claiming that their forces have gained a foothold on the eastern bank.

However, marines and soldiers on the ground told The New York Times that these claims are overstated and that Ukrainians are dying in huge numbers, often before they even reach the other side of the river.

"There are no positions. There is no such thing as an observation post or position," Ukrainian soldier Oleksiy said. "It is impossible to gain a foothold there. It's impossible to move equipment there."

"It's not even a fight for survival," he said. "It's a suicide mission."

Did you know that the technology now exists that when someone fires something the targeting software can be hacked and the ordance can be directed to fall on their own troops or assets.

As for Putin, I chose not to spend too very much time on media extracts of his recent press conference. There is a kapwing.com feature that will translate uploaded audio, and there are many recordings floating around of his answers.

1) He sat in a press conference surrounded by journalists and answered questions for 4 hours. I saw no evidence of illness.

2) The vast majority of questions asked were not about Ukraine. The Russian people are less focused on it than FR.

3) There were questions about inflation, particularly of eggs. I cannot recall anyone asking Biden about the price of a dozen eggs. This is maybe interesting.

4) Nothing said by Putin, who I suspect everyone pro and anti will say is a Russian patriot, suggested any concern on his part about NATO weaponry. He is briefed on the battlefield and those briefings are from the Russian satellite imagery. There was no evidence in his actual spoken words to suggest he has changed his goals of deNazification, deMilitarization and ensured neutrality of Ukraine. I heard absolutely no change to any of that.

All you Russia butt kissers should be visited by Hamas.

Your ridiculous ignorant comments repeat the vilest propaganda of the murderer.

You chant childish immoral anti war rhetoric of the 70’s left.

It's a war and it's hell. People die.

Ukraine is not “nazi” and that's not why Putin invaded.

Ukraine is not “homo” and that's not why Putin invaded.

It's not over “biolabs”

And nobody “attacked Russia” or is planning “World War 3”

Nor is Hamas-backing Russia fighting for “Christianity”.

And finally, the world dominating dictatorial cabal of Russia, Red China, N Korea, Iran, and Hamas - is most definitely NOT fighting against “globalism”.

If you find yourself making up 10 ridiculous justifications for what is clear aggression by a clear enemy - Russia,

you have no idea what the hell you're talking about.

And if Ukrainian soldiers are having a horrific time on a battlefield IN UKRAINE that's on Russia and you are immoral and complaining about the wrong country.

I 100% agree with you.

Is not Ukraine controlled by “globalists?”

If so, what then should Russia have done differently to face this perceived threat on their border?

I did not (looking into it), but I was aware of Fancy Bear:

How Fancy Bear Sabotaged Ukrainian Artillery

Like Sir Francis Drake’s privateering raid on Cadiz, Spain, during the 2014 Crimea operation, Russia’s chief intelligence directorate (GRU) collaborated with Fancy Bear (APT28), a state-sponsored hacking outfit, to sabotage Ukrainian artillery.5

As part of the ruse, Fancy Bear used a remote- access command and control (C2) and Beacon malware as the attack vector to compromise Ukrainian artillery positions and destroy Ukrainian 122mm D-30 towed howitzer artillery.6 Fancy Bear also developed X-agent, a malware implant based on an existing artillery-targeting program called Попр-Д30.apk (Android Application Package [APK]), for the ruse.

As a subterfuge, Fancy Bear distributed the malware via social media and online military forums, and the Ukrainian armed forces unwittingly downloaded the malware. The malware carried a C2 Beacon, a malicious payload that could remotely communicate from an infected Android device being used in the field, relaying artillery locations, battery strength and movements. The malware pinpointed Russian attacks on the Ukrainian artillery, resulting in a loss of 20 percent of the Ukrainian D-30 howitzers.

I don’t personally spend any time in moral evaluation of what happens in Ukraine. God fights on the side of the biggest artillery.

And the winners write the history books.

Burying yourself in that sort of stuff is the path to delusion. If Zelensky surrendered tomorrow, had all his troops lay down their arms, Russian generals enter Kiev and replace the parliament there with selected Ukraine military people and all US and UK CIA/MI6 people are executed — if all that took place, the western media would report that the Russian troops are leaving the Donbas and it is a great victory for NATO and the forces of good.

Forget this claptrap about who is evil and who is not. You’re going to be told favorable things by the media no matter what happens. Ignore it all.

This is all absurd silliness. Counter-battery radar does all this without the benefit of handwaving talk of Beacon malware. The only challenge to counter battery radar is the movement of the artillery after the shells are fired (and btw, this would defeat this magical, non-existent malware, too).

There is so much insanity in the world of Ukraine/Russia blogs that one wonders how these people can eat a plate of food.

Now let’s deal with the specific report. The fighting on the East Bank of the Dnieper may be brutal. It may ultimately even be a mistake.
But Ukrainians have been there for many weeks. Somehow troops are landing and they are fighting on the East Bank of the river.

God bless the brave soldiers. And G damn to hell the Russian invaders.

I can’t think of a war that did not have desperate situations like this. And in every one it was LEFTISTS screaming that we were murdering soldiers and babies.

I spit on the left that cost us losses in the past.
And if you succeed in handing the brave Ukrainians to the Russians, when they are OBVIOUSLY a strong bunch of allies, you are without honor.

There is no more “globalist” force on Earth than Russia/ China/ NK/Iran.

Go speak up in Europe, then go to those countries and speak up. Which one will you survive in.

Shame on you for trying to feed us to that evil globalist alliance of pure dictators

If the fighting around Krynky is so bad for the Ukrainians why are the Russians in the area complaining about how bad it is for them?

Oh you don’t like being reminded that Russia armed and openly supports the WORST terrorist organizations including Hamas that raped and murdered Jewish babies.

In fact many here supporting Russia said we made them do it.

Russia supports Hamas. And people still line up here to support Russia.

We must rethink the so-called “Ukranian war” vs Russia in light of historic evidence showing
Ukraine’s 2016 election interference to denigrate Trump for Hillary’s candidacy. Presents the
US-taxpayer financed “Russian invasion of Ukraine” in an entirely new light. Read on.

BACKSTORY Ukraine Tried to Tip the 2016 Trump/Hillary Election in Clinton’s Favor
Evidence reveals Ukraine intervened to tilt the election in favor of its own national interests

observer.com, By Michael Sainato, 01/12/17

EDITED—Politico reported the Ukrainian Government dedicatedly worked to aid Hillary Clinton’s
2016 presidential bid. The actions taken by Ukranian government officials included
<><>disseminating false documents implicating a top Trump aide in corruption
<><>first announcing they were investigating the matter,
<><>then nervously backing away after Trump defeated Hillary
<><>helping Clinton’s allies research damaging information on Trump and his advisers.

The supposedly incriminating government documents Ukraine brought forth implicated Trump’s former campaign manager, Paul Manafort, who once worked as an adviser for now-ousted Ukrainian President Viktor F. Yanukovych.

However, the concerns that the Ukranian documents raised weren’t over any quasi-Russian ties the partisan MSM rigorously reported, pushing this narrative 24/7. Rather, the dubious documents raised question about “declared income” that only the Ukraine government was ostensibly privy to WRT Manafort.

The Podesta Group, a notorious lobbying firm co-founded by Clinton Campaign Chair John Podesta, also conducted work for the Ukranian president Yanukovych but was studiously ignored. The Ukranian narrative not only painted Trump as pro-Russian, but also provided the Clinton campaign with a wholly invented “Trump smear campaign” which helpfully reaffirmed Ukraine’s stance “against Russia” and which earned Ukraine billions in US tax dollars.

It was in Ukraine’s best interest to tilt the election in support of Clinton, b/c she strongly advocated for providing Ukraine with billions of US tax dollars in military aid and financial support in order “to fight” Russian separatists then-operating in the Ukraine. Which presents the more recent US financed “Russian invasion of Ukraine” in an entirely new light.

Politico noted that Alexandra Chalupa, a Ukrainian-American working as a consultant for DNC, met with top Ukrainian Officials in Washington D.C. about “forcing” Manafort’s resignation with the goal of cementing the Ukraine/Hillary narrative that Trump was “connected” to Russia.

Manafort was subsequently jailed and slapped into solitary confinement due to Ukranian efforts.

Both Ukranians, Chalupa, and her sister Andrea, have strongly pushed the anti-Russian narrative on social media.

Shockingly, the Ukranian sisters also advocated that the state electors of “the US electoral college defect from Trump.” The Chalupas’ outrageous elector gambit was ignored but Trump was said to have an “elector scheme.”

The report added, “Politico’s investigation found evidence of Ukrainian government involvement in the Trump/Hillary 2016 race strains diplomatic protocol dictating that governments refrain from engaging in one another’s elections.”

In addition to the Chalupas, the co-founder and CTO of Crowdstrike, the cyber security firm that the DNC hired to investigate the alleged hacks, Dmitri Alperovitch, also serves as a senior fellow to the Washington-based think tank Atlantic Council, which is an openly anti-Russian organization.

The Atlantic Council is funded by Ukrainian oligarch Victor Pinchuk, who is one of the most prolific donors to the Clinton Foundation. The DNC denied multiple requests from the FBI to access their servers, effectively forcing the FBI to rely on CrowdStrike’s assessment of the hacks.

The Ukranian-centered Atlantic Council has propagated anti-Russian sentiment and advocated for bolstering NATO forces in anticipation of a Ukranian military conflict with Russia long before Wikileaks released emails from the DNC and Clinton Campaign Manager John Podesta.

In 2013, the Atlantic Council awarded Hillary Clinton its Distinguished International Leadership Award. In 2014, the Ukranian-biased Atlantic Council hosted one of several events with former Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk, who took over after pro-Russian President Viktor Yanukovych’s 2014 removal.

In August 2015, Politico was apparently cued to report that “Donald Trump’s favorable rhetoric to Russia was concerning to Ukraine.” The article stated, “Russia wants Trump for U.S. president; Ukraine is terrified by Trump and prefers Hillary Clinton.”

In response to their preferred candidate losing the election, Ukrainian officials were now scrambling to revert from their lobbying for Hillary Clinton and the DNC.
<><>Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko rushed to sign a $50,000-a-month contract with a US lobbying firm to set up meetings with US officials in the new Trump administration.
<><>Ukrainian oligarch Victor Pinchuk, who paid Hillary to come to Ukraine for a speech, now sang a different tune and wrote an WSJ op-ed Dec 29 in which he argued that Ukraine needs “to make compromises” to establish peace with Russia.
<><>Post-election, Ukranian Pinchuk donated to Trump’s charity to try to gain the same favor and access that his donations to the “Clinton Foundation” afforded him.
<><>“The sole reason the Victor Pinchuk Foundation has reached out to President-elect Trump—as well as other world leaders—has been to promote strengthened and enduring ties between Ukraine and the West,” a spokeswoman for the Pinchuk foundation told ABC News with a straight face.

While past elections in Ukraine have been viewed as proxy battles between the US and Russia, it appears that the 2016 US presidential election faced a barrage of shady influence from Ukraine——a beneficiary of billions of US tax dollars——attempting to influence an election outcome biased for Ukraine’s national interests.

It now appears to be based on Ukraine hungering after US foreign aid .....from 2016 up to and including the “Russian invasion,” and onto Ukraine’s 2023 beg-a-thons for US tax dollars.

As the US grows closer to the 2024 elections, Biden is going to have to do something with regard to addressing his pitiful performance wrt the economy, illegal entry via our Southern Border and other matters relating to his corruption involving Hunter and UKR. To me that spells moving away from saving UKR to only tacit words-only support and then abandonment.

Not good for UKR. Biden can’t and won’t need them as a distraction anymore which, as a distraction, isn’t working. Either way, whether he wins or loses the election, UKR won’t be the number one world issue that Zelenski so desperately wants.
