The typical rules of sustainability do not apply when it comes to choosing the most environmentally friendly Christmas tree.
…
Here is why real Christmas trees are better for the environment than fake trees:
Christmas tree farms help to produce oxygen and sequester carbon
…The tree is then grown for seven to 10 years before it is harvested, and during that time it is sequestering carbon and releasing oxygen….Purchasing at a Christmas tree farm also bolsters the local economy, as most tree farms are family-owned, Chastagner said.
Artificial tree production has a high carbon footprint
…The production of one artificial Christmas tree results in about 88 pounds of carbon dioxide -- an output 10 times higher than that of any sustainably grown real Christmas tree, Rivera said.
…
Real trees are recyclable and biodegradable
…Once an artificial tree hits a landfill, it could take thousands of years or more to break down, adding even more pollutants to landfills and oceans, Rivera said.

Imagine if they did that across ALL environmental topics.
As we said growing up, “Fake trees are for communists.”
What a stupid inquiry.
The Delusional Lying Left looks for anything to dampen your joy and would like to ban Christmas and the Bible altogether.
Soon, but not yet.
Years ago, I worked in an office which included one outspoken jerk of a homosexual. As if anyone cared. He made a huge stink about our having a Christmas Tree. HR got involved. No Tree, they said. The compromise, in the end, was to hang the Tree upside down from the ceiling (yes, really). That mollified the hysterical rump-ranger. Good Lord.
One of the benefits of working from home is not dealing with this kind of crap.
This year’s Christmas tree is a Virginia White Cedar. Unable to bear the weight of lights, we went with tinsel. The tree was growing on a friend’s property and they wanted it gone. We call it our Hoover tree, a Depression era Appalachian throwback.
Watch out for that word “sustainability” and the Left’s lying application.
“Sustainability” is being use as a lying concept based on the faithless fear that somehow the earth cannot “sustain” the use of its population.
Faithless because God made the earth ABUNDANT for a full population and an eternity of use. The earth is RICH.
No matter. The Left works by fear, not reason and faith. We are in the age of fear. “Sustainability” like everything else is and will be used by the Delusional Lying left as an excuse for worldwide totalitarian government.
YOU are the carbon they are trying to reduce.
Christmas trees were frowned upon at the university but we put one up anyway. We figured it was just a virtue signal.
What about Festivus Poles?
Socialism is unsustainable.
The source? Satan himself who hates God and loathes and despises man who is made in his image.
The left is run by the spirit of antichrist. This is just a preview of coming attractions, but when it comes we'll be in Heaven celebrating the 7-year party of the Marriage Supper of the Lamb. Woe to those who are left behind.
Our mission, should we choose to accept it, is to bring as many as possible to Jesus before that great and terrible day. :)
Don’t need the hives or the annual expense. Tree from a crate works best for me.
...and yet they keep diggin it up from the grave. Socialism is the Walking Dead of the Zombies...
Interestingly, the 7-year Tribulation - coming soon but not yet - is the ultimate dream of these lovers of satanic worldwide totalitarian government - the Ultimate "Socialism". It can only be "sustained" for seven years because after seven years, the whole world is dead.
Dear ABC:
I’ll buy whatever I damn well please and you can STFU.
Been using a fake tree for 20 years. Actually on our second one. Wrestle the big tree box downstairs, pull out the three main parts, slip the male end into the female end, plug in the cord for the pre-installed lights...and presto. The days of live trees with dirt balls is long gone, or even live trees without the dirt ball.
Not celebrating a merchants holiday is more environmentally friendly than anything.
We needed to thin out a stand of pines on our property so cut the best looking one for our Christmas tree this year.
We call it our Charlie Brown Christmas tree. It’s sparse as pines can be, but with garland, lights and bows on it, doesn’t look half bad in the daylight and looks even better at night.
In cases like that, with allergies, there is really no choice.
Only brain dead liberals would think the choice is not transparent.
It is blindingly obvious which one is more environmentally friendly.
