In an interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper on Sunday, Secretary of State Anthony Blinken criticized the delay in the United Nation’s response to reports of Hamas’ sexual violence on October 7th and said the atrocities were “beyond anything I’ve ever seen.”
He told Tapper, “The atrocities that we saw on Oct. 7 are almost beyond description or beyond our capacity to digest.”

I wish I had the proper attribution for this quote that really stuck with me and applies here - it appeared on FR back in the early 2000s and I believe it was stated by a US military officer:
“The world is full of happy, smiling people who will treat you with utter ruthlessness if they ever get into a position of power over you.”
University girls and State Department officials who chant “From the River to the Sea!” from under the safe umbrella of US power have no way to understand this quote - until one day reality stares them in the face.
