One down, two to go. Bill Ackman appears to have a scorecard tracking which college presidents lose their jobs for their congressional statements on on-campus antisemitism, and now he's training his full fire on the two university leaders who remain.
(excerpt)
And Ackman's quest seems to be picking up after Liz Magill, president of the University of Pennsylvania, resigned from her position on Saturday.
On Sunday, Ackman penned an open letter to Harvard's governing boards of directors, where he reiterated his call for Claudine Gay to be removed.
"In her short tenure as President, Claudine Gay has done more damage to the reputation of Harvard University than any individual in our nearly 500-year history,"

The problem is that she is not “out”. She is still a tenured professor at Penn. she needs to be fired
Harvard barrs speakers who won’t use someone’s preferred pronouns, but calling for a holocaust of Jews, oh. that is a Free Speech issue.
Their hypocrisy is staggering.
“The problem is that she is not “out”. She is still a tenured professor at Penn. she needs to be fired”
They’d have to be ready to fire the others also and I don’t think that’s gonna happen.
If not for Affirmative Action and DEI, how can incompetent people rise to the top?
Stupid people have rights too. This is America after all...the land of opportunity.
Just because you're stupid, lazy, and bigoted against Jews and white people doesn't mean you shouldn't have an opportunity to get a PhD and be president of Harvard, MIT, or Penn.
Claudine Gay would be an embarrassment for any community college. How can Harvard alumni abide her?!
“The faculty have been told in no uncertain terms that candidates that do not meet DEI criteria will not be considered for certain faculty positions,” Ackman wrote.
.....................................
Institutionalized racism.
If you are a black woman and can string two sentences together you’ve got it made in today’s USA. See Claudine Gay, Stacey Abrams, Sunny Hostin et al.
One look at her and you know she’s a “diversity” hire
w/ very few academic credentials to qualify her.
She’s knee-deep in BS crap like “African studies”........just what we need to go to the moon.
She was criticized for a low rate of published papers......a must for academia.
Her vacuous mindset ....none dare call it “thinking”..... has brought
what was once Americas most prestigious academic University into disrepute.
But do they know it?
Gay is being accused of plagiarizing her thesis.
Magill is still a tenured prof.
The presidents are only figure heads. The real problem is the school adminstrations.
Black - check.
Female - check.
Plagiarist - check.
Proof that DEI is all about politics and has nothing to do with Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
I am calling Bull Sh!t.
“Magill is still a tenured prof.”
Yep, resigning as prez is a bit of a hollow victory I’m afraid.....I imagine the new boss will be same as the old boss......and that goes for the other universities as well.
Still tenured, hmmmm. I wonder if the deal she cut continues to pay her the big salary. The left throws other peoples’ money at every problem the create. It’s really way past time for the Boards, Legislators, Alumni, and large donors to start paying attention to all the money that is and has been flowing into these institutions. I bet they would be quite shocked and surprised at what they discover.

Rufo calls on Harvard’s Board of Overseers to conduct an investigation, when found to have plagiarized her doctoral thesis, arguing “the dissertation is the cornerstone of an academic career, and universities impose demanding standards of academic integrity, with severe consequences for violators.”
Gay has not responded to Rufo’s request for comment.
Rufo’s claims quickly went viral on Sunday night, garnering responses from everyone from Elon Musk to Not The Bee.
The news comes as Gay faces steep criticism for how she handled her testimony before Congress last week..... after she argued calls on campus for the “genocide of Jews” did not amount to bullying or harassment.
She has since apologized for her lackluster testimony, the New York Times reported.
Harvard donors also pulled their support en masse in October after Gay’s initial statement on the Hamas attacks against Israel did not condemn the terrorism that killed 1,200 civilians.
“The Harvard board is meeting tonight and there are rumors that the plagiarism scandal could be the final nail in Gay’s coffin,” Rufo posted Sunday on X.

A tide is slowly turning. One hopes it opens a floodgate

With the resignation of woke U of Penn president Liz Magill, following an execrable performance addressing antisemitism in Congress, some kind of dam has broken. Now academics with actual achievements are beginning to speak out against the wokesterism that has laid low the reputations of their universities.
CNN commentator Fareed Zakaria, who’s best described as a left-leaning moderate, has thrown down the gauntlet about woke universities, calling them indoctrination centers, not places of learning, and demanded that universities return to their core mission of seeking the actual truth, demanding excellence, instead of creating their own “truths.
He wrote up his remarks in this CNN commentary America’s top universities should abandon their long misadventure into politics, retrain their gaze on their core strengths and rebuild their reputations as centers of research and learning
What we saw in the House hearing this week was the inevitable result of decades of the politicization of universities. America’s top colleges are no longer seen as bastions of excellence but as partisan outfits, which means they will keep getting buffeted by these political storms as they emerge. They should abandon this long misadventure into politics, retrain their gaze on their core strengths and rebuild their reputations as centers of research and learning.
He’s not just criticizing wokesters, he’s offering a way out — through the sorely needed return to focus on excellence. He cites DEI as a villain, discriminating against achievement in favor of skin color, along with racial quotas in admissions, again, penalizing the achievers in favor of racial numbers, then speech codes, which are obvious chillers of free speech, .......(Excerpt) Read more at americanthinker.com ...
