The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) has filed a discrimination complaint on behalf of a Black Muslim Arab American teacher in Maryland, who was placed on administrative leave for her email signature, which included a controversial phrase supporting Palestinian rights.
Hajur El-Haggan, a middle school math teacher employed by the Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) since 2015, was informed November 20 by the principal at Argyle Middle School the county was placing her on immediate leave because her email signature expressed political and personal views, says the complaint filed Wednesday.
El-Haggan’s email signature included the phrase “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free,” according to the complaint, which described it as “a call for Palestinian freedom, dignity, and self-determination. That means the ability to exist and move within the land between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean.”

Counter sur that she should have been fired and hanged.
She’s no educator; she’s an indoctrinator and hater. FIRE HER!

Good to see CNN arguing on her behalf.
CNN is Warner/Discovery
I could see it if it were discrimination against an American, but please, a Muslim Arab American ... not a fully assimilated American, possibly an illegal.
The case can be made that hyphenated Americans aren’t Americans.
Get rid of them. Not because of what they say, but because of what they are.
She’s of Sudanese and Egyptian heritage. If she wants to keep her job, she has to assimilate to the American way of living and yes, that means she is not allowed to hate Jews.
“Controversial.” Yeah, like “Sieg Heil” is controversial.
She's not Black.
She’s putting a personal political statement on her email signature, which is meant to represent the school district. My district has an extremely clear policy on our email signatures: the only choices we have are which version of the district’s logo we want to use (color or black & white) and whether or not we want to add the links to our district’s social media pages. We certainly are not allowed to add personal or controversial garbage.
This woman is shameless.
The first time that phrase was used was in 1803: “From the River to the Sea, the Louisiana Purchase Belongs to Me.” — Thomas Jefferson.
Ping.
Call for extermination, receive termination.
Seems fair to me.
That got her in trouble and somebody complained so they had to suspend her. If it wasn't for the email and she was doing her thing in her classroom, I bet you that she would still be there today.
CNN is wrong. She's an Arab. Not a Black.
They never just fire liberals do they, like they do non-liberals...
“The case can be made that hyphenated Americans aren’t Americans.”
Teddy Roosevelt would have agreed with you.
TR said, in 1919: “There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn’t an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag, and this excludes the red flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language... and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.”
“From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.”
-mohamedans and leftists
“From the river to the sea, Israel shall be.”
-YHWH
In the name of Yeshua Mashiach, who are you going to believe?
