Nice map, but where would the carriers berthed if they were in port?

Howfy, Kathy.

I was glad to see the snow pretty much bypassed Anchorage overnight into today. And the sun came out for a while, making the mountains gleam.

Any progress today with your path to the mailbox?

No, no rain today. Just cold. We have a good shot at soaking rain this weekend though. A couple of nice warmish days between now and then.

I was so glad to see that storm system jog to the east ad stay on that path. You didn’t need all that snow!

Nice map, but where would the carriers berthed if they were in port?

The carriers usually berthed around the other side of Ford Island, opposite from Battleship Row. Not always, though.

Howdy, luvie.

Hope your day’s been good.

Sorry to hear Tux disappeared. Maybe he and that handsome Pirate traded homes. Pirate doesn’t look like he’s missed any meals. LOL

December 7

Giving like Christ

Bible in a Year :

Offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God.

Romans 12:1 When American author O. Henry wrote his beloved 1905 Christmas story “The Gift of the Magi,” he was struggling to rebound from personal troubles. Still, he penned an inspiring story that highlights a beautiful, Christlike character trait—sacrifice. In the story, an impoverished wife sells her beautiful long hair on Christmas Eve to buy a gold pocket watch chain for her husband. As she learns later, however, her husband had sold his pocket watch to buy a set of combs for her beautiful hair.

Their greatest gift to each other? Sacrifice. From each, the gesture showed great love.

In that way, the story represents the loving gifts the magi (wise men) gave to the Christ child after His holy birth (see Matthew 2:1, 11). More than those gifts, however, the Child Jesus would grow up and one day give His life for the whole world.

In our daily lives, believers in Christ can highlight His great gift by offering to others the sacrifice of our time, treasures, and a temperament that all speak of love. As the apostle Paul wrote, “I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God” (Romans 12:1). There’s no better gift than sacrificing for others through Jesus’ love. .

Reflect & Pray

What sacrificial gift have you received from someone that showed Christ’s love? What sacrificial gift can you give to others in return?

In my daily life, dear God, may I show others Jesus by sacrificing my needs for theirs.

It was really nice to see the sun today...not for very long, but no snow. LOL!

Almost made it to the mailbox. Too tired to do any chipping tonight.

Hey there, radu!

It was another pretty day here. Got down to 38 last night, but then warmed up to the mid-60s this afternoon. The kitties were happy.

I was sad to see Tux go, too. No idea what might have happened with him. I know he didn’t like the rainy days that we had. Pirate eats well. LOL! He eats his and then fusses till the others move over and let him have some of theirs. No idea how he lost his eye, but it doesn’t seem to bother him.

It’s too bad the sun didn’t come out earlier but at least it came out. Much more cheerful when it’s sunny.

Give your back and knees a break tonight. Chipping all that ice has to have done a number on them. With luck, you’ll be able to knock out that last little stretch the next time you tackle it and you can relax for a while.

I thought of you and your ducks this afternoon when I went to the mechanic’s house to pick up the station wagon. Hives in the country his garage is set up at his place.
He and his wife have several ducks, chickens, and turkeys roaming the farm. His wife got home from work while I was there and all the birds made a beeline for her, ready for a snack.

They don’t have as many feathered friends as you do though. LOL

It looked pretty here but it was right nippy. We’ll drop into the 20s overnight but they SAY we’ll warm up to 60 or so tomorrow. It’s already 32 here at the house. BRRRRRR

There’s no telling where Tux went. I hope he’s ok wherever he is.

Pirate is a handsome feller, even with a boogered eye. Looks like a big boy too. When did he show up?
