With a foreign aid package scheduled to hit the Senate floor as early as this week, eleven Senate Democrats issued a joint statement to demand that any agreement to tighten U.S. asylum laws and improve border security also include an amnesty for illegal aliens. The Democrats who signed the statement included Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, and Sen. Alex Padilla (D. Calif.), Chairman of the Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration, Citizenship and Border Safety. They were joined by Senators Cory Booker (D-N.J.), Mazie Hirono (D-Hawaii), Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M.), Edward Markey (D-Mass.), Bob Menendez (D-N.J.), Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.), Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.), and Ron Wyden (D-Ore.).
The statement signals the concern that some Democrats have about ongoing negotiations in the Senate, where Republicans have demanded that negotiators include meaningful immigration policy changes as part of a foreign aid package that would spend billions on Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan. It reads: “As negotiations surrounding the supplemental aid package progress, we are concerned about reports of harmful changes to our asylum system that will potentially deny lifesaving humanitarian protection for vulnerable people, including children, and fail to deliver any meaningful improvement to the situation at the border.” Ironically, the statement also criticizes Republicans for seeking immigration policy changes as part of the foreign aid package, saying that the addition of policy provisions to the aid package would set a dangerous precedent and forsake our allies. Yet, at the same time, these Democrats are demanding amnesty.
By issuing the stern statement, the Senators hope to rein in their Democrat colleagues negotiating the immigration provisions and ultimately stop them from making meaningful changes to the law. The Democrats’ negotiators include Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), Michael Bennet (D-Colo.), and Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (I-Ariz.). The Republican negotiators include Sen. James Lankford (R-Okla.), Thom Tillis (R-N.C.), Lindsay Graham (R-S.C.), and Tom Cotton (R-Ark.).
Senators Durbin, Padilla and others promoting open borders are beginning to feel the heat as the White House ramps up pressure for Congress to act on the foreign aid package. On Friday, White House national security spokesperson John Kirby told reporters, “We want to see all four priorities taken up by Congress and all four funded. The reason why it’s a supplemental is because they’re all urgent. And as I said earlier, we’re running out of runway on Ukraine, and I would tell you the same thing for Israel.”

Haven’t we been down this road before??

They already got Amnesty back in the 80s
It's quite possible that the Republicans retake control of the Senate in 2025, so the Democrats are "demanding" things now in advance of losing the next Senate.
However, only the Republicans would be stupid enough to fall for it and give the Democrats anything they want, because... demanded.

You are just handed an election year advertising gift.
Please use it.
Early and often.
Thankyou very much.
Nope, that’s a deal killer. Nice try though.
PS... we all knew you would try something like this.
The plot was to first flood the country with illegals. Done. Step two is to given them all citizenship, or let them vote without it, to rig the 2024 elections.
Republicans will go for it. Pay em each $20,000, and they will sell out the country + live in the minority for evah.
Just enforce current laws.
Yeah, we have watched this song and dance routine before. The illegals get amnesty, the left celebrates the new voters, and border security never happens. Rinse and repeat. Watch the GOP fall for it once again.
No, no, a thousand times no. Every illegal criminal here that can be found needs to be rounded up and shipped back to wherever they came from. Then if they want to come back legally, they can do so according to the laws on the books. That’s the way our ancestors did it, and that’s how they need to do it.
Washington Post: Killing Foreigners Via Aid to Ukraine Is Good For American Business

“The war in Ukraine might be deadly but at least it’s good for Boeing!”
That’s the latest message from advocates for unending foreign aid to Ukraine as the Russian war drags on into its third year.
The horrifying conflict could have ended more than a year and a half ago. Instead, Western leaders hung on to stubborn demands to keep Ukrainian membership in NATO on the bargaining table, and, apparently, to justify spending billions in tax dollars to enrich the US military-industrial complex.
Richard Stern, federal budget analyst at the Heritage Foundation, told The Federalist: “Of the military spending we give to Ukraine, none of it is money. All of it is equipment......equipment that has already been produced, so that’s not supporting US defense industries.”
So, who, exactly, is feeling the economic impact? It’s certainly not the average taxpayer. A Heritage Foundation analysis in August found the total aid to Ukraine cost taxpayers $900 per household.
Too, Ukraine isn’t winning........the war-torn nation is now digging in for a turbulent winter and a long, drawn-out conflict.
“Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky ordered the construction of an extensive network of fortifications aimed at holding back Russian forces, signaling a switch to the defensive posture after a months-long Ukrainian counter-offensive yielded only small gains,” the Wall Street Journal reported Friday.
More will die, but at least the military-industrial complex is making some money.
Not today, not tomorrow, not Ever!
Bait and switch.
They pulled this crap on Reagan.
They should be tried for treason.
Republicans MUST say no one who is here illegally will ever become a citizen. Only those who leave and come back legally will ever be made citizens. Think about the effect this would have on illegals coming in and those staying.
This MUST GOP policy because it is the law and it is what the people want.
They pulled this crap on Reagan.
They should be tried for treason.
“” eleven Senate Democrats issued a joint statement to demand that any agreement to tighten U.S. asylum laws and improve border security also include an amnesty for illegal aliens. “”
Ummm, the progs can “demand” all they like.
The fact that they actually said this out loud has finished them with normal American Citizens.
But I do have a better idea, remove the citizenship of anyone “demanding” they get their way irregardless of the Law.
Then they can be all “harmonious and knowledgeable” of the criminal illegal alien border law violators that caught a Soros financed bus all the way to the Texas border.
They can scream about it all they like on the ICE bus back to the border.
I would take a few days off work and drive down to Eagle Pass or El Paso just so I could watch the commies marched back across the border.
.
LOL! When have Democraps EVER kept their side of the deal? But stupidarse GOPers just might fall for it again.
If our new house leader goes along with this then he is toast in my book. Not to mention the republicans.
And now we know why they have absolutely been flooding the borders with as many illegals as possible over the last two years. The end game has always been to turn them into Democrat voters.
