On the global stage, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has been consistently on message: In visits to Washington and other Western capitals, he has focused on keeping Kyiv supplied with more advanced arms, ammunition and financing.
At home, however, he faces a human resources problem. The war is approaching the end of its second year, and Ukraine’s military needs more manpower to sustain a bloody war of attrition against Russia, a country with more than three times the population of Ukraine.
In a recent essay, Ukraine’s top military commander, Valery Zaluzhny acknowledged that training and recruiting troops was becoming a serious challenge.

Grim older Ukrainian soldiers at rally before they depart

FJB/Soros are willing to fight Russia to the last Ukrainian life.
Next they’ll be asking for NATO troops along with NATO weapons and NATO cash...
When you watch the expressions on the faces of that group of old men you know that they are not happy to be there. Their only positive thought is maybe realizing that they won’t experience the indignities of dying of disease and old age.
At that age, they don’t have the naïveté that their leaders can use to psyche them up to get them all “gung ho” to go off to war. They are all old enough to know exactly what they’re up against which makes it worse. No amount of money is going to fix that morale problem.
That is criminal. Sheep to the slaughter.
If everyone already had guns at home, Russians would have been shot at, a lot more.
“You’re outnumbered, Aragorn. You need more men.”
“There are none.”
“There are those ... who dwell ... in the mountain ...”
It’s clear that Russia’s aim over the last year has been to grind down the manpower of Ukraine. The plan proceeds apace.
It has been said that war is not for old men, and I believe it. It is why they recruit 18-35 year old men into the military (That is, when things aren’t dire enough where they have to accept any warm body they can lay their hands on)
When you are young, you believe it won’t happen to you. You are young and invincible, so you are ready to go. I have heard it said by men who have been in combat, that when when you are in combat long enough, to cope and not go crazy, you HAVE to accept it WILL happen to you. Or more to the point, “Assume you are already dead” is a common mindset, apparently)
However, when you are old enough, you become absolutely certain it will happen to you. Older men cannot handle the constant physical and mental stress. In WWII, when the real fighting began, they had to flush a lot of the career military officers out of the combat billets because they simply didn’t have the stamina to keep up, and the strains of leadership became evident. Between 1941 and early 1944, this became evident. They had to relieve many 50-60 year old officers due to the destabilizing toll it took on them, and replace them with younger officers.
Admiral Ghormley who oversaw the opening of the Guadalcanal Campaign was a good example. By all accounts, he was an excellent officer, but he was one of the people in which the constant strain took its toll and disabled his ability to lead. Granted, he was replaced by Admiral Halsey, who was a year older than Ghormley, but his constitution was quite different.
But even Halsey, who was the right person at that time in 1942, began making mistakes in judgement in 1944-45 that resulted in the deaths of thousands of men and extensive damage to the Fleet (Typhoon Cobra and Typhoon Connie) and to many, it was clear that it was the long strain of command. But everyone is different.
It is definitely a dichotomy, and always has been, that old men send young men off to fight and die.
I feel bad for those men. I really do. Their faces tell it all.
It turns out that no one adheres to the law, but everyone talks about obligations.
Sounds exactly like Washington DC
Paging Sean Penn.
What’s next...70-year olds? Ukraine will soon be unpopulated.
Next they’ll be asking for NATO troops along with NATO weapons and NATO cash...Given Russia's strategic goals include half of Romania and Poland, NATO involvement will be inevitable, if Ukraine falls.
Putin claimed that the invasion was necessary because of NATO expansion. What proof does he have of any aggression towards Russia
Poland, Latvia, Lithuania band Estonia have been on Russias border for some time and the number of invasions by them or NATO is how many?
In contrast most of Europe has been demilitarizing, just ask Trump and freely trading and enriching Russia (well for some)
This comes down to putins dreams of a greater Russia or Soviet Union 2.0, he has spoke and written extensively on that topic and the fact that Ukraine and Ukrainians don’t actually exist
Land and resources and his ego are the reason for the war
Ukranians are defending their land, lives and culture, the fact that some don’t want to is not unlike the US, vast minority choose to serve.
I hope not because if Biden makes that move it will almost certainly lead to nuclear war IMO
Ukraine is going to need men to repopulate the country after war is over, and they need men now to fight.
Hmmmm...how about sending them our illegal immigrants?
If my email spam folder is any indication, Ukrainian women won't have any problems attracting men.
