An Iowa school district has apologized for using a phrase attributed to Heinrich Himmler, the Nazi architect of the Holocaust, as its “Respect Quote of the Day.”
The quote “My honor is my loyalty” was used over a public-address system for middle school students in Indianola on Monday — as well as in an email to parents, where it was attributed to “Heinrich H,” the Des Moines Register reported.
Himmler’s actual phrase, “loyalty is my honor,” was used by the Schutzstaffel — the Nazi Party’s paramilitary group better known as the SS — to show loyalty to Adolf Hitler, according to the Anti-Defamation League.
The school district later apologized, insisting a “staff member did not realize that the quote was from a highly inappropriate source.”
“This morning (Nov. 20), an administrative staff member accidentally posted a Respect Quote of the Day before checking the source of the quote,” Superintendent Ted Ihns wrote in an email to parents.
“I first want to apologize for the oversight/ While it was completely unintentional, I understand that some of those who saw the quote and realized the source were offended,” he wrote, according to KCCI.
“Moving forward, we will implement a new process for our Respect Quote of the Day to be sure that we are double-checking all sources and ensuring the quotes are appropriate for our students,” Ihns added.

The US Department of Education recently released a letter to remind academic institutions of their “federal legal obligations to ensure nondiscriminatory environments” for students amid a spike in antisemitic and Islamophobic incidents nationwide after Hamas attacked Israel on Oct. 7, USA Today reported.

Seems like something the socialists in the public school system would instinctively choose.
So they apologized for the gist of the quote and not actually using the exact wording?
WTH?
The person who came up with this idea needs to be fired.
We are The Bad Guys.
Exactly…homeschoolers are seditious, religious gun Nazis.
But the govt is beyond reproach.

Our idiot Sec of Education just said “Ronald Reagan said,’I,m from the government and I’m here to help’(without the rest of the quote which made it the driest of sarcasm) and thought he was patting his parasite agency on the back. Either he’s dumb as a rock, or he thinks we all are.
Well, sometimes it appears ~85% of folks are dumb as rocks while about 15% get or care what’s going on. Otherwise funny cat tiktoks. Me? Pretty aware and pickin’ on my guitars to pass some time.

Come now…who hasn’t inadvertently posted “Heinrich H.” Quotes from time to time? They’re ubiquitous! /s

What a bunch of idiots.
Just one more example of the wiseass students being smarter than the teachers and administrators.
This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)
The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.
There are many things that people (leaders and teachers) in public schools should be fired over. I don’t think this is one of them.
Also, setting aside the character of the author to whom the quote is attributed...it’s a pretty good quote.
Liberals and leftists have now embraced Judeophobia—note how they’re chanting “from the river to the sea”—so this should hardly be surprising.
Because no one has ever used that phrase before. /s
When I was a wisea$$ twerp in high school I was assigned the QOTD in my math class, and I found something that sounded good from Mao’s little red book just to be wisea$$. The difference between me and the school administrators here is that I grew up.
The reason I cringe when DJT calls out ‘disloyal’ associates. Maybe he’s ill informed. He needs another word.
I don’t think it’s was a conscious Nazi usage. Rather, I think it more likely the staffer was a typical ignorant product of public schools. If the name had been Hitler, he or she would have recognized it, but other than the name the person k owes nothing of the Nazi regime, and certainly not enough to recognize the name of any other of the leaders
So, the question also becomes: “Do we dispense with sensible sayings because a cretin used them?”
We suffer from educated idiots.
Who needs a doctorate in "Pissin' and Moanin'"?
