Argentina’s new president Monday visited the Queens grave of one of the most revered rabbis in modern history, paying his respects as he met with Jewish leaders in the Big Apple.
Javier Milei — a firebrand libertarian and outspoken admirer of Israel who has been fostering a close relationship with New York’s Hasidic community since well before his Oct. 22 election victory — stopped at the Ohel, the gravesite of the Chabad Lubavitcher Rebbe Menachem Mendel Schneerson.
Donning a yarmulke and flanked by Hasidic community leaders, Milei, who is Catholic, somberly toured the rebbe’s final resting place, where he shared an embrace with others in his group.
Milei — who has openly bashed Pope Francis and mused about converting to Judaism — used the graveside visit to thank God for his election win, according to the Buenos Aires Herald.
The eccentric Argentinian leader is then headed to Washington, DC, to huddle with Biden administration officials over the South American country’s economic issues.
The gravesite of the rebbe, who died in 1994, is visited by hundreds of thousands of people each year of all faiths. The Ohel is located at Montefiore Cemetery in Cambria Heights.
Milei had visited the site previously in September as he met with top Hasidic leaders in Brooklyn and Queens, even sharing his reverence for the rebbe in an undated campaign video.
Milei sought to foster close ties with New York’s Hasidic community even before his Oct. 22 election victory.
“There’s a book that contains the teachings of the rebbe. Usually they give you that book as a gift,” Milei said in the television clip that aired during his presidential....

Error (autotype?): ‘Without being’ is supposed to be Within.
Cool. Great gesture.
Yeah, yeah, real adorable as Noahide laws get prepped.
Meir Kahane might have been a better choice, these days, but he has my admiration, thus far.
He needs to give a loud pep talk the people of Cuba can hear. Dump comminism.
Many in the Lubavitch sect of Judaism believe dead Rebbe Menachem Mendel Schneerson to be the Jewish Messiah who will rise from the dead some day. Yet they reject their true Messiah Jesus Christ who did indeed die and rise from the dead. They are a synagogue of Satan…
I don’t think I would go that far. But they are certainly mislead. As to Milei converting to Judaism there would be a price for rejecting Christ.

Some in the Chabad-Lubavitch believed that there is a Messiah in every generation. Others do not. The Rebbe Menachem Mendel Schneerson and his predecessor, Yosef Yitzchak Schneersohn (an ardent anti-communist) largely rejected that they were Messiahs.
88% of Chabad-affilated Jews voted for Donald J. Trump in 2020.
Some - a misguided few - believe that. The Rebbe himself never claimed that position and tried to discourage people from going down that path.

After all, we Jews have a lot of bad experiences related to false messiahs, starting with a sect of people who claimed that a dead carpenter qualified for that position without having brought peace, ingathering the Jews, building the 3rd Temple (kind of difficult when the 2nd was still standing) and did not bring universal recognition of the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob S the one and only God. Oh, and they also made the blasphemous mistake of assigning divinity to a mere man - NOWHERE in the Tanach is the Final Redeemer (Messiah) described as divine in anyway. Yeah , the Jewish experience with that group has generally not been even remotely close to a good one, especially among those referring to them as the “synogogue of Satan.”
“...who claimed that a dead carpenter...”
Resurrected carpenter.
C’est tres interessante.
“...who claimed that a dead carpenter...”
Resurrected carpenter.

That’s open for debate, as the accounts differ significantly, and none of the supposed witnesses was from outside of his inner circle.
Nonetheless, and without conceding your claim, he didn’t accomplish anything that the Final Redeemer is supposed to do - not during his life, and not during his alleged resurrection. So 2 shots weren’t enough, now a good part of the world is waiting for round 3.
How were they able to tabulate 88% ....were all 100% of this group recorded /interviewed? How do you get to that percentage ? Poll’s that all here would rebuff in the past?...jus’ sayin’ I think this man is good and it is a blessing.
