As holiday shopping begins, Black business owners hope shoppers don’t forget them
NBC News / Comcast ^ | November 23, 2023 | By Curtis Bunn

April Showers (her real name), a self-described “serial entrepreneur” much of her life, looks at 2020 as a paradox.

George Floyd’s murder in Minneapolis and the ensuing social justice movement across the country were “painful and exhausting. Very troubling and a moment in time we won’t forget,” she said.

For a Black businesswoman, though, the subsequent impact of the protests following Floyd’s death heightened awareness of vast social inequities and inspired the #BuyBlack movement, which encouraged support of Black-owned businesses.

But as so-called Black Friday arrives, with sales and promotions for the holidays just about everywhere, Black entrepreneurs who spoke to NBC News said they hardly feel the support of 2020. In fact, they say, they feel abandoned.

“Everyone was very much into diversity, equity and inclusion,” she said. “But now we see companies are comfortable not focusing on DEI because, from a political perspective, it’s not popular. It’s all unsettling. The messaging changed as it relates to what it means to be inclusive. And it has impacted Black businesses as much as anyone.”

Trump had a "Platinum Plan" in the works to foster the creation of more Black-owned businesses, but you voted for the other guy, didn't you, honey?

More guilting by the leftists... They can shove it!

I don’t shop based on the skin color of the owners, but based on the quality, the service, and the products they sell.

That would be only fair. The only way most people learn IMO, is from the other side hitting back in exactly the same way.

The only way Leftists will learn about whey lawfare is a bad idea is from those on the Right in deeply red jurisdictions doing the same thing to Democrat politicians and the only way race hustlers will learn is from White people adopting exactly the same tribalist tactics they use. I would actually prefer Martin Luther King Jr’s colorblind society in which people advance through their own merit but if we’re going to go down the race essentialism path, then those who advocate for it will not learn until White people do exactly the same thing.

ok, let’s take a survey...

Everyone who shops at stores based on the race of the owners, please raise your hand...

Anyone?
Anyone at all?

Ok let’s try this one...

Raise your hand if you research the race store owners where you are planning to shop, before spending money...

Still nobody?

Well isn’t that odd right there?

Another race-baiting lie of a premise, upon which to cause division.

They might want to put a yellow star on their businesses so they can be identified quickly.

I only buy from whites. If it’s socially acceptable to deem me racist for being born a white male, I might as well benefit from superior products.
I like Japanese products as well.

I never give it a thought to worry about what color a business owner is when I shop.

I shop for the product, not who runs the place. If they have what I want, I buy it, if they do not, I leave.

Yes the govt has turned off the teat and people are spending less. Shouldve used that “support” to grow and instead of waiting for the next infusion of support.

Stores tend to put on their shelves what will sell. If, for example, Afro unicorns don’t sell, it’s not racist if they don’t put it on their shelves. Why should black products get special handling that other races don’t??

Dittoes. And businesses will sometimes indicate they are fag friendly by the inclusion of a rainbow flag.

I stay far away from them.

I have never shopped at certain places because of the color of the skin.

You can count on the established media to make everything about their race agenda. See Tagline.

I started to stop reading at the “George Floyd murder”, but I continued to the end of the excerpt though.

Normally, the owner’s political opinions are not known, but if they plaster them all over the place, I usually avoid them, either BLM or Shame - oops - “Pride”.

Keep gorging yourself at the trough of lies lady! Goerge killed himself by overdose- but do keep ignoring the facts- it says more about you than it does us.

“Yeah the first thing I do when I decide where to shop is to find out the race of the owner.”
I personally don’t.
I will not shop at a moslem owned store.
That is not a race based decision, it is cultural
based.

to be honest i stopped shopping at almost any store that had blm out in front.

Most likely the owners of those stores are white. Most black business owners would be like "Why would I do that? That's stupid."

I make an effort to avoid doing business with anyone who makes race a primary factor in their marketing.

With a few exceptions, there is no reason to know the race, religion or politics of a business.
