While the 2024 presidential election is still a year away, the Republican primaries are almost upon us. The Iowa caucuses are on January 15, and the following Tuesday, New Hampshire will hold its first-in-the-nation primary.
That's not much time for former governor and UN ambassador Nike Haley to make up 50 points or more in the polls.
Obviously, that's not going to happen. And realistically, Haley's chances depend on limiting Trump's victories in the early primary states and then winning some later contests in South Carolina and Michigan in late February.
“Nikki Haley is certainly locking up a lot of the Never Trumpers,” said Matthew Bartlett, a Republican operative who has worked on several presidential campaigns and is unaffiliated this cycle. “She also has real room to grow.”
The problem for Haley is that there aren't a lot of "Never Trumpers" to lock up. There never were.
But since perception is the coin of the realm in politics, Haley's only shot is to alter the perception of Trump as an inevitable winner. She can do that by starting to cement the support of the anti-Trump minority.
“Never Trumpers and ‘Anybody but Trumpers’ are really consolidating around her from a financial standpoint,” said Gross, who was chief of staff to former Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad.
There's a lot of money in the anti-Trump donor pool. There's certainly enough to run a credible campaign into the Spring.
Haley is benefiting from this recent surge of support. She is now polling ahead of DeSantis in New Hampshire, the first primary state, and in her home state of South Carolina. One recent survey showed her running neck and neck with DeSantis in Iowa.

I wouldn’t vote for Niki Haley under any circumstances.
She’s Romney with even more tyrannical tendencies. Wants to end anonymous speech on the internet in order to chill opposition.
Yeah...we’re all supposed to be fat, dumb and happy, reveling in the last year of Hillary or Yeb’s presidency. Drat that Trump!
And...? This is important because?
Nope.
Republicans have a deep bench, but the candidates of substance no better than to try and beat Trump.
She owns a chain of 711s
Cue the laugh track
The US Supreme court can't change the Constitution or change Natural Law.
"Nikki Haley Is Now Emerging As Trump's Primary Opponent"
From related thread...
Just like DeSantis, Haley doesn't seem to understand that she cannot take the 10th Amendment powers that she used as governor to make her state thrive to the Oval Office and use those powers to likewise make the nation thrive. Using state powers in the Oval Office is why we are now being oppressed under the boots of an unconstitutionally big federal government imo.
"Congress is not empowered to tax for those purposes which are within the exclusive province of the States." —Justice John Marshall, Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.
“If the tax be not proposed for the common defence, or general welfare, but for other objects, wholly extraneous, (as for instance, for propagating Mahometanism among the Turks, or giving aids and subsidies to a foreign nation, to build palaces for its kings, or erect monuments to its heroes,) it would be wholly indefensible upon constitutional principles [emphases added].” — Justice Joseph Story, Commentaries on the Constitution 2 (1833).
From the congressional record:
”Simply this, that the care of the property, the liberty, and the life of the citizen, under the solemn sanction of an oath imposed by your Constitution, is in the States and not in the federal government [emphases added]. I have sought to effect no change in that respect in the Constitution of the country.” —John Bingham, Congressional. Globe. 1866, page 1292 (see top half of third column)
“Cherish, therefore, the spirit of our people, and keep alive their attention. If once they become inattentive to the public affairs, you and I, and Congress and Assemblies, judges and governors, shall all become wolves [emphasis added]. It seems to be the law of our general nature.” - Thomas Jefferson (Letter to Edward Carrington January 16, 1787)
Pelosi: "We have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it." (non-FR; 6 sec.)
Democrats [And RINOs] Are Terrified Of An Educated And Informed Public (3.12.23)
That being said, the next major political event in USA is not hopeful Trump 47 being elected a third time, but Democratic and Republican Trump-supporting patriots getting ready ASAP to support Trump campaign by primarying ALL state and federal, lawmakers and executives, except for MTG Gaetz & Company (and others?), for the 2024 primaries.
After all, lawmakers and executives continue to show that they do not have the patriotism and leadership skills necessary to find legislative support for effective remedies for unconstitutional government policies.
In fact, consider that, since one of the very few powers that the states have expressly constitutionally given to the big, bad federal government to dictate peacetime domestic policy is to run the US Mail Service (most federal domestic policy actually based on stolen state powers imo), the worst problem that the country would otherwise be looking at with a new Congress of Trump-supporting freshman lawmakers is arguably that citizens that would ultimately get into the habit of lightheartedly questioning if the federal government has shutdown if they receive their mail a few days late.
"Article I, Section 8, Clause 7: To establish Post Offices and post Roads;"
"From the accepted doctrine that the United States is a government of delegated powers, it follows that those not expressly granted, or reasonably to be implied from such as are conferred, are reserved to the states, or to the people. To forestall any suggestion to the contrary, the Tenth Amendment was adopted. The same proposition, otherwise stated, is that powers not granted are prohibited [emphasis added]." —United States v. Butler, 1936.
Trump can endorse candidates from lists that patriots who respect the federal government's constitutionally limited powers provide for him, as long as candidates are not incumbents, candidates also promising to repeal the 16th (direct taxes) and 17th (popular voting for federal senators) Amendments (16&17A) after they win office.
Consider the repealing of 16&17A as part of reparations for victim taxpayers of the unconstitutionally big federal government for having to pay a lifetime of unconstitutional federal taxes, taxes that Congress cannot reasonably justify under its constitutional Article I, Section 8-limited powers and a few other constitutionally enumerated expenses.
Again, the definition of insanity is reelecting your beloved career state and federal lawmakers and executives over and over again, expecting those same politicians to find remedies for unconstitutional government policies every time.
Let's not allow ourselves to be fooled for third time in 2024 by the corrupt, constitutionally undefined political parties that have pirated control of state and federal governments.
Finally, consider that probably the main reason that we hear media complaints about the electoral college is that it is the only thing stopping the corrupt political parties from establishing a permanent puppet presidency that will unquestioningly sign unconstitutional taxing and spending bills into law.
A female war hawk that wants to restrict our rights is not exactly a contender for Trump.
Well that’s just it...nobody’s on fire for Nikki Haley....except Nikki.
As much as DeSantis is morphing into a weasel, I’d 100 times rather he be in second place than Haley. Please Lord, not another hold my nose and vote candidate.
—>> Desantis is NOT a moderate he is a conservative.
The kind Bushie money is attracted to…
Why not vote in the democraps primary?
From her words and actions, Haley is clearly not “politically viable” for national office ... even if Trump decided not to run (which he damn-well won’t do!)
“NOT ONE of the bastards has stood up to our government being weaponized”
Because they have all been part of the government. (Except Vivek, but not sure I trust him)
What happened to Meatball?
I really hope Meatball beats Nikki. I want her to see how much everyone hates her.
What is the PPACA decision???
