Bob Vander Plaats, a prominent Iowa Christian evangelical leader, announced his endorsement of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis for president on Tuesday.
Vander Plaats, the CEO and president of the Family Leader conservative group, argued that DeSantis, 45, is the best chance Republicans have at winning the 2024 general election and said his endorsement shouldn’t come as a surprise.
“I think America would be well served to have a choice, and I really believe Ron DeSantis is that guy and I think Iowa’s tailor-made for him to win this,” he added.

Those in Iowa say this isn't that influencial of a person, though he does have lots of potential votes in his followers
He is viewed as somewhat of a grifter, and the payment of $95k from the desantis campaign to him seems to support that viewpoint.
It appears that he may be trying to be a charlatan trying to elevate his power, as he does appear on the steve deace show frequently.
Someone mentioned he endorsed cruz and cruz won Iowa - I'd say the fact the cruz campaign put out the dirty lie that Ben Carson had dropped out, did more to help cruz win - and jeff roe, who is on desantis' campaign, was involved in cruz's also.
I seriously doubt this has any significant change in voters, people are VICIOUSLY independent, and don’t want anyone to take THEIR voice and opinion. I say it garners about 93 votes in total at the end of the day.
Iowa Caucus kingmaker, there will be no “ROI” in your future with De-sanctimonious
Well, what do you expect him to say? “Vote for Ron even though he is kind of a d***.”?

Nothing like trying to shore up the Titanic after the ice berg.
Go Ron go…
Away…
Just a coincidence, I'm sure.
Did Ron write him another check, or was the first one sufficient payment?
He’s an “evangelical leader” as much as Jill Biden is a “doctor”. He’s not a pastor and did not go to seminary. He’s a former high school accounting teacher with an education degree— probably did the math and figured out that grifting paid a lot more than teaching.
I like Steve Deace, and kinda thought *he* was the Iowa Caucus kingmaker.
Honestly, though, why is anyone endorsing anyone other than Trump at this point. Trump is the inevitable candidate, and endorsing anyone else is just silly.

at a cost of a little over $1,000/voter in baksheesh payments made by desantis campaign outfits to Platt to buy his support ...
