Utah Republican Sen. Mike Lee is calling for an investigation into the now-defunct House January 6 committee, accusing former and current lawmakers who served on the committee of "deliberately" hiding some of the footage from the Capitol riots.
Lee's comments came after House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., began releasing more than 40,000 hours of footage taken at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021, when protesters angry about the 2020 election results entered the halls of Congress.
Highlighting the release of the footage in a series of posts to X, formerly known as Twitter, Lee called into question the character of former Republican representatives Liz Cheney of Wyoming and Adam Kinzinger of Illinois.
"Why didn’t Liz Cheney and Adam Kizinger ever refer to any of these tapes? Maybe they never looked for them. Maybe they never even questioned their own narrative. Maybe they were just too busy selectively leaking the text messages of Republicans they wanted to defeat," Lee wrote in a post to the platform, which included a video that purportedly showed Capitol police officers facilitating the passage of protesters through the building that day.

As far as I know, the January 6 committee hasn’t explained the video where the capitol police (clearly shown wearing jackets that spells out capitol police) were standing around just talking to each other. If Congress was in such a hurry to open the certifications of the results of the 2020 elections and declare Joe Biden the winner, why are these police just standing there and letting people just walk around? Shouldn’t they be in a hurry to push everybody except authorized people out of the capitol?

I am not so sure. How is he, and individual senator, supposed to issue a subpoena? How is he, an individual senator supposed to enforce that subpoena?
We all know why Cheney and Kizinger were selected by the democrats and it sure wasn’t to give Trump any defense. They didn’t want to even look at anything or talk to anyone who wold contradict their preconceived narrative.
If he was actually interested he could have done so. He did not.
If the subpoena is ignored he could send the sergeant-at-arms to enforce it, he could ask the judicial branch to enforce it or if he wanted a good hardy laugh he could ask the DOJ to do it. But the point is it could be done. And he did not even try.
Just went along bleating like a good little sheep. And now he is "shocked, shocked!"

McCarthy should be jailed for not releasing these videos the minute the GOP assumed control of the House.... The J6 hearings were all bogus then? Political agenda? Time to remove the stars and install bananas on the flag......

I happen to agree with Lee and am glad he said what he said. Hopefully they all find their voices.

Mike Lee turned out to be another politician who grifted off the Tea Party brand, talked a good game, and eventually revealed the establishment tool he always was.
