Hundreds of federal government officials have signed a dissent letter in rebellion against Democrat President Joe Biden’s handling of the Israel-Hamas war.
Four hundred government officials from 40 departments and agencies within Biden’s administration signed the letter.
They are opposing the president’s handling of the Israel-Hamas war and demand a “ceasefire.”
The Tuesday letter was first reported by the New York Times.
It includes officials from Biden’s State Department, White House, National Security Council, and the Department of Justice (DOJ).
The signatories of the letter remained anonymous to protect against professional retaliation.
The letter reads, in part:
“We call on President Biden to urgently demand a cease-fire; and to call for de-escalation of the current conflict by securing the immediate release of the Israeli hostages and arbitrarily detained Palestinians; the restoration of water, fuel, electricity, and other basic services; and the passage of adequate humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.”
Biden and other Western leaders have pushed back on calls for a “ceasefire” in Gaza.
They argue that it would only serve to benefit Hamas terrorists.
Biden’s administration has instead pushed for humanitarian pauses in the fighting.
Israel has agreed to pauses and has opened up passageways for Palestinians to leave Gaza and for aid to enter.
The White House has not responded to the letter.
So far, the only major Western leader to call on Israel to implement a ceasefire is French President Emmanuel Macron.
Macron later clarified his remarks on Monday, however.
He added that he still believed Israel has a right to defend itself.
The disagreement within the Biden admin mirrors friction within the Democrats regarding the Israel-Hamas conflict.
Several radical Democrats have decried Israel as an “apartheid state.”
Some even argue that the war in Gaza is a “genocide” against Palestinians.
Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) faced a public rebuke from the House of Representatives for her comments on Israel last week.
Israel’s war against Hamas is coming to a head this week as Israeli forces surround Al-Shifa Hospital.
Al-Shifa is the largest medical facility in the Gaza Strip.
Israel says Hamas has entrenched its headquarters beneath the hospital, which serves as a human shield for the terrorist group.
Their cowardly anonymity makes their protest worthless.
In my lifetime, there has never been a clearer case of good versus evil. There is no pause, ceasefire or compromise with the absolute evil that Hamas embodies. Those calling for such are either politically and historically illiterate or part of the evil.
400+ Jew Haters in the dem party- How proud the party must be to be filled to the brim with racists/antisemites/bigots etc /s
It is hard not to come to the conclusion that the FBI is controlled by antisemites.
Fire every damn one.
The signatories of the letter remained anonymous to protect against professional retaliation. So nobody actually signed it. Without names it is just a made up number.
There is a lot of things you can do anonymously but signing a letter is not one of them.
Get that letter to Trump. Those 400 need to be fired first minute after oath of office, Jan 2025.
If they didn’t put their names on it, then they aren’t actually supporting it.
