Russia illegally invaded a sovereign country for no reason, FFS The US does lots of things other countries view as "illegal" and we have more assets scattered around the world than anyone. There is no world wide consensus that Russian actions are illegal.
No one died and put us in charge of the world. This is a really bad idea.
