Trump's Attorney Has Perfect Response When Judge Says 'Control Your Client'

The combustible atmosphere in the civil trial of former President Donald Trump on allegations of fraud turned into open fireworks Monday in a New York courtroom as Trump took the stand.

Legal analyst Lisa Rubin posted on X one snippet of the sniping that took place as Judge Arthur Engoron vented to Trump defense attorney Chris Kise his displeasure with the 2024 presidential candidate’s answers on the stand.

“Mr. Kise, can you control your client? This is not a political rally … Maybe you should have a talk with him right now,” Rubin quoted Engoron as saying.

Kise instead said it would be better to let the “former and future chief executive of the United States” answer.

Guardian reporter Hugo Lowell posted another bit of byplay on social media.

“I beseech you to control him if you can. If you can’t, I will. I will excuse him and draw every negative inference that I can,” Engoron said, according to Lowell.

Lowell also noted that at one point, Trump attorney Alina Habba said in open court that if the state prosecutor wanted better answers, he should ask better questions.

That prompted Engoron to order her to sit down.

“Very, very unfair trial, and I hope the public is watching,” Trump said then, according to Lowell.

"Asked and answered." is one of his answers I liked the best.

I was being badgered once on the stand by a lawyer who was trying to get me to slip up. I answered, "Counselor, you have asked me that question three times already and my answer is the very same now as it was the last three times you asked." The judge directed me to answer no matter how many times asked and gave a look to our lawyer as if to say, "Aren't you going to say something?" I asked him the same thing on a break but wasn't very friendly about it.

If this were a kangaroo court he would have already been jailed and awaiting a firing squad.

So we want all on the stand to filibuster instead of answering the questions while under oath?

So you want the system Che Guevara endorsed where “Trials are a bourgeois affair and all that is necessary for someone to be guilty is for us to declare them guilty?”

The “progressive” left is transforming our nation into that grotesque vision.

That prompted Engoron to order her to sit down.

Habba was outraged and went straight to the mic when she exited the court.

Judge Engoron sniped his displeasure with Trump’s answers on the stand, saying,
“This is not a political rally,” directed to Trump defense attorney Chris Kise,

Then Engoron’s threat.

“I beseech you to control him if you can. If you can’t, I will. I will excuse
him and draw every negative inference that I can,” Engoron added.

If this were a kangaroo court he would have already been jailed and awaiting a firing squad.

@del griffith "kangaroo court"

1. : a mock court in which the principles of law and justice are disregarded or perverted.
2. : a court characterized by irresponsible, unauthorized, or irregular status or procedures.

Have you ever been deposed?
Have you ever been called as a witness in a Court of Law?

There is a tactical method of answering questions that incorporates all the further facts and context necessary to a truthful understanding of both the deceptiveness of the question, and the complete truth of your answer.

I’ve won settlement from opposing counsel using this tactic during a deposition. They come to understand the relative strength of your case vs theirs, and that grasp often clarifies that continuing the case against you isn’t a hill worth dying on.

Done before a Jury it immediately highlights what a weasel the questioner is while it simultaneously affords the jury a far more complete grasp of the landscape of the case.

Plus if your mode of answering is challenged, you have the instant fallback that you swore to tell the WHOLE truth, and — by God — you’re gonna.

Good smack down of a self-righteous ass, who I highly suspect is an enemy of President Trump.

....SNIP

“Nov 06, 3:57 PM EST
Defense says it will finish presenting its case by Dec. 15

Donald Trump’s lawyers plan to present a defense case that would conclude by Dec. 15, defense lawyer Chris Kise said.

Before court concluded today, Judge Engoron also advised Trump’s lawyers that he would not respond positively to a motion for mistrial based on the actions of his clerk who Trump’s attorneys have accused of being biased against the defense and improperly influencing the trial.

“I am directing you not to make that motion,” Engoron initially said — but then he backtracked.

“We obviously are going to be moving for a mistrial — that is part of the plan. [But] we do not want to put anyone at risk,” Trump’s lawyer Alina Habba said, requesting clarity about how they can move for a mistrial without violating the case’s gag order that prohibits parties from making public statements about the judge’s staff.

“You can make that motion. And I’m sorry I yelled at you before,” Engoron told Habba.

Court is set to resume on Wednesday with testimony from Ivanka Trump.”

I don’t believe in hell and I won’t rot as I’m being cremated. And yes, as long as I have known about Trump ( mid 80’s) I’ve viewed him as a fraud.

Well, I came by the information through bitter personal experience, so I’m damned if I won’t make good use of it.

People in shock at the corruption of our Legal System that’s been revealed in the wake of COVID, The Summer of BLM, Election 2020, J6, etc — I saw this crap at the common, municipal courthouse level a decade ago, and it was considered run-of-the-mill by jurists I was involved with; nobody batted an eyelash. Absolutely nobody would ever be disbarred for any of it.

People up in arms in the present hour about the DoJ and two-tiered justice — it is to LAUGH.

There hasn’t been a Justice System in the United States since God only knows when. What we have is a Byzantine junkyard of intertwining legalities that can be employed as weapons to exact capital and/or compliance. If, in the midst of such an exercise, a result resembling actual justice emerges, feel free to join with legendary painter Bob Ross in calling it a “happy little accident.”

"And yes, as long as I have known about Trump ( mid 80’s) I’ve viewed him as a fraud."

Thanks to Trump we have a Supreme Court which has delivered the Dobb's decision, reversing Roe v. Wade, and the Bruen decision, set to destroy almost a century of infringements of the Second Amendment. I consider these two issues, abortion and gun rights, to be the two most contentious issues in our nation.

I don't think there is anything fraudulent about this accomplishment. My worry is that future Courts will re-establish these injustices.

Each day these clowns open the doors to mistrials and appeals. The bias and impropriety is palpable.
