In a Telegram message, Valerii Zaluzhnyi, the commander-in-chief of Ukraine's Armed Forces, said his assistant and close friend Maj. Hennadii Chastiakov was celebrating his birthday when an "unknown explosive device" detonated in one of his gifts. It was not immediately known where or when the incident took place, or who exactly was in attendance. Zaluzhnyi said Chastiakov's death caused "unspeakable pain" and is a "heavy loss" not only for himself but for the military as well.

a) doing bidding for Zelensky, because US State Department has no one else to replace him at this time, and need to keep him till the US elections
b) attempt of CIA to kill “heroes” of Ukraine and pin the blame on Russia, to ensure bridges of Ukraine and Russia stay burned for good by appealing to “Ukrainian nationalism”
c) US state department sees the risk of rogue command elements in AFU military
3. Partisans against Kiev government, acting either on their own diligence, or bribed
4. Target and payback for SBU and their crimes in Russia
I’m going with 2.
Makes one wonder, was he responsible for conducting military operations within civilian offices, hospitals, hotels, schools nursing homes like these same people have been reprimanded for, for their war crimes, by the UN. If so, he must have had a magnificent number of people out for his termination. Family and friends of dead pawns aren’t any more happy with these heartless people than they are the enemy.

A top aide to Ukraine’s armed forces commander was killed Monday when an “unknown explosive device” detonated inside a birthday present, according to Ukrainian officials who suggested the explosion was an accident—as Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine drags on and Ukraine seeks to retake territory occupied by Russia.
Major Hennadii Chastiakov, a top aide to Ukraine’s commander-in-chief, Gen. Valery Zaluzhny, was killed after he “took out a gift box with grenades inside,” showed one of them to his son, took it back and pulled its ring, “provoking a tragic explosion,” Ukraine’s minister of internal affairs Ihor Klymenko said in a Telegram post Monday translated by the Washington Post.
Police in Ukraine found five more unexploded grenades inside the box, which have since been turned in to authorities for an examination, Klymenko said, while a pre-trial investigation will look into the reasons and circumstances of the explosion, Zaluzhny said on Telegram.
The grenades came from a fellow Ukrainian army member, according to Klymenko.
After the ring is pulled, Mr Grenade is no longer your friend.
