President Joe Biden announced Monday the federal government will pump more than $16 billion into improving the nation’s busiest rail line.

At an event in Delaware on Monday, Biden said the funding will go into more than two dozen projects along the Northeast Corridor – the Amtrak system that connects cities including Washington, New York and Boston.

Biden hailed the new investments, saying he knew the agony of waiting on a stopped train while trying to get home.

“I know how much it matters,” he said, describing an aging system in dire need of upgrades and repairs.

His words held particular resonance as trains nearby were stopped due to fire department activity on the tracks. It wasn’t clear whether the issue was related to the problems his new investments are meant to fix.

Biden told the hometown crowd that he was intent on making US rail first-rate.

The only thing that Americans will get out of that $16 billion in Amtrak improvements is tampon dispensers in the men’s bathrooms, all the rest of the money will be stolen by our garbage establishment.

President Joe Biden announced Monday the federal government will pump more than $16 billion into improving the nation’s busiest rail line.

The last I checked, all funding $$ Bills (no pun) originate in the House. Biden can propose anything he wants but he's not a king with unlimited power.

When the Executive branch creates laws using executive orders, it's unconstitutional. When courts (activist judges) make laws via their rulings, it's unconstitutional.

We need our government to get back to obeying the constitution. The limits the constitution places on each branch of government was for good reason. The Founders would rebuke the government we have today.

I just recently returned from a weekend New York visit. Amtrak from Union Station in DC to Penn Station round trip was over $300. It’s cheaper to fly! Much cheaper to take the bus.

The Northeastern US is becoming an uninhabitable scrap heap.

Can't really see the point of upgrading road, rail, or otherwise.

Allow Brightline to run the service in the Northeast Corridor.

So where does he get the money? Did he rob a bank? Nope. He just takes it from your labor or prints it making yours worth less and less and less and less. $35,00,000 per mile for improvements? Is that enough? If it is such a busy corridor why can’t it pay for it’s own improvements? If it were private it would.

Biden announces $16 billion for Amtrak rail improvements in Northeast Corridor

Of which 12 BILLION will either disappear or be misused and Amtrak will end up worse off and needing MORE MONEY.

I saw a YouTube video about Brightline Florida and it didn’t have very many passengers at all.

I think it needs more stations. Currently, there are no stations between Orland and West Palm Beach. To increase ridership, they need stations in Cocoa, Melbourne or Palm Bay, Vero Beach, and Fort Pierce.

Another line between Orlando, Ocala, and Gainesville could serve UF football games.
