Virginia’s Youngkin says Biden is ‘legitimately elected president’

Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R) on Sunday acknowledged President Biden was “legitimately elected president” as Republicans continue to be peppered with questions about whether the 2020 election was legitimate.

Pressed by ABC News’ George Stephanopoulus on whether the 2020 election was stolen, Youngkin said, “Well, I’ve consistently said that Joe Biden was legitimately elected president. He’s sleeping in the White House. I wish he weren’t.”

Youngkin just demonstrated his naivety about political and social information. Never would I vote for this clown.

If even people who didn’t vote for Trump and wouldn’t vote for him next time are telling pollsters they thought the election wasn’t wholly honest, they probably aren’t up in arms about it. The world is funny that way.

“The mules, video of people dumping boxes filled with ballots, signed affidavits by witnesses of saw workers feeding same ballots through the machines multiple times all should be discounted? It that what you think?”

I was answering what I took to be your argument: that Biden got something like 15 million more votes than Obama [it was actually about 11 million], and that proves that there was fraud.

To know what I think, read what I wrote. I’ll boldface the key part:
“Whether the cheating benefited one side more than the other is a legitimate inquiry, but the raw numbers by themselves don’t prove anything. If they did, Dinesh D’Souza wouldn’t have needed to make a whole film about the mules.”

The key is that each party’s vote total was way, way up over prior years. An election observer from the Duchy of Grand Fenwick, who knew nothing of U.S. politics, wouldn’t say that the changes in vote totals meant that one party cheated but the other didn’t. You have to go beyond the raw numbers and examine specifics like the “mules” allegations.

My concluding point was my skepticism about Youngkin. My guess is that he hasn’t made that kind of inquiry. Instead, he’s just saying what he thinks will help him politically.

For the people who "wouldn't vote for Trump", what difference does it make if they don't "like hearing Trump (or anybody) go on about it"?

My point was that even people who think elections are crooked don’t necessarily want to hear about it.

There’s no way to a majority rehashing 2020.

“1) Why are Democrats CONSTANTLY trying to convince us they didn’t cheat?

2) Why do they CONSTANTLY lie to us? We won’t disregard what we SAW happen that night.”

Not only that Laz, but look at the vindictive actions taken against those who have questioned the steal.

Who thinks that an important issue, whether it be spending, inflation, illegal immigration, foreign wars, election integrity...etc shouldn't be discussed in an election?

It's an odd thing to think. I can't agree with that.

There’s no way to a majority rehashing 2020.

Trump covers all the important issues and he's currently leading.

So, hcmama, you have no intention of defending your inaccurate misinformation? You have no intention of addressing a peer-reviewed study by John Lott, PhD, who specializes in statistics and mathematics?

No?

THEN, AWAY WITH YOU

I understood your as you made it clearly. Biden was an unpopular idiot and the idea that he received 11 million more votes than Obongo managed strained credulity. No the number in an of itself does not prove fraud. They are just part of larger highly improbable picture.

Now I have to wonder if Youngkin won his election honestly. :)

No, Rasmussen is like every other awful “pollster” out there. They lean right and most others left. They’ve been absolutely horrid over the last 8 years (minus first Trump election). They were dead last in the 18 midterms. This isn’t a “uniparty” talking point; these are cold hard facts. Just because a factual statement is made that doesn’t lean in our direction doesn’t make it “uniparty.” Your logic of not falling in line with false presuppositions makes you yourself “uniparty.”

“Biden was an unpopular idiot and the idea that he received 11 million more votes than Obongo managed strained credulity.”

Obama, in his two national campaigns, received 52.9% and 51.1% of the popular vote. Biden got 51.3%. That’s a pretty narrow range. I don’t see anything extraordinary in Biden’s percentage. Certainly nothing shows that he was hugely unpopular. (Hillary’s 48.2% suggests that she was slightly more unpopular than either Obama or Biden – not a huge difference, but it was enough, in a close election, to put Trump in the White House.)

The main reason Biden got 11 million more votes than Obama is the same as the main reason that Trump got 11 million more votes than Trump: A lot more ballots were cast in 2020 than in any prior year. Or do you think that Trump’s big increase “strained credulity”? Do the official numbers reflect millions of fraudulent Trump votes?

And please don’t tell me that Trump’s total increased solely because 11 million more people saw how great he was. His share of the popular vote increased, but only from 46.1% to 46.8%. If he had gotten his 2020 share (46.8%) with the 2016 electorate, he would have added only a million votes. The remaining 10-million-vote increase in Trump’s total came because there were almost 22 million more votes cast in 2020, and each major-party candidate got about half of them.
