A 79-year-old woman died on a street blocks from her Brooklyn home Thursday evening after she was struck and dragged by two hit-and-run drivers, police said.
NYPD officers responding to a call around 6:30 p.m. found the victim lying on the roadway unconscious at New York Avenue and Herkimer Street in Crown Heights.
She was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS and later identified as Yvonne Sandiford, who lived about five blocks south of the crash scene.
Police said she was crossing New York Avenue in the marked crosswalk when she was hit by the driver of a gray Nissan Rogue who was turning left onto New York Avenue from Herkimer Street.
The Nissan SUV dragged her on New York Avenue, where she was then struck by the driver of a white Toyota Sienna minivan, who was headed north on New York Avenue and turned right onto Fulton Street.
Both drivers fled the scene, leaving her to die on the street, police said.

Scum.
Hope the surveillance cameras recorded their vehicles, plates and ugly faces.
I’m reasonably sure the dozen or so eyewitnesses will not get involved any more than the two different drivers.
You ain’t seen nothing yet.
Hit and run? Vehicular homicide? Is that stuff still illegal in NYC? Or do they just let you out the same day?
contestants in deathrace 2023 no doubt.
I think it is great that they got fully detailed descriptions of the vehicles.
Odds are both drivers were illegals. The white man’s laws don’t apply to them.
We need to pass a law so ear buds pick up body bumping and dragging sounds, or auto-ibterruptions in texts and youtube videos do drivers can be notified. Nail polish applicators fo this now with natural hearing.
Is that ever the truth. You take your life in your hands every time you are out as a pedestrian in Tampa, FL. Any time of the day. It’s not just in New York City anymore. Zero law enforcement and zero law enforcement presence is now the rule in Hillsborough County. Out-of-control speeding motorcyclists where pedestrians are only several feet away from the road, reckless and impatient and overly aggressive drivers with no licenses and no insurance. Hit and run is on their minds, you know these fiends will stop at nothing, they are full of hate for you if you are seen as being somehow in their way.
The second driver didn’t think this through very well. Unless they were up to major felony no good, they just created a manslaughter h&r charge against them, that they didn’t have to face.
Too many cameras around for them to get away. I watch Blue Bloods, so I know.
Damned Amish drivers!
Nobody said any thing about a Horse and Buggy, and those Amish don’t drive horseless carriages!
