Trump prosecutors putting up a fight to keep cameras out of courtroom

Special counsel Jack Smith urged a federal judge on Friday to bar media outlets from televising the election subversion case against former President Donald Trump in Washington, DC.

Last month, attorneys for a coalition of news organizations, including NBCUniversal, asked United States District Judge Tanya S. Chutkan to make an exception to the longstanding rule that prohibits broadcasting and photographing criminal proceedings in federal courts under the Federal Rule of Criminal Procedure.

Prosecutors are trying to uphold the rule that states, “the court must not permit the taking of photographs in the courtroom during judicial proceedings” or broadcasting those proceedings unless a judge rules otherwise.

House Democrats have also pushed for live broadcasting of the court proceedings in the criminal cases against Trump. The former president's defense attorney John Lauro agrees, telling Fox News Sunday in August he “would love to see that.”

“I personally would love to see that,” Lauro said. “I’m convinced the Biden administration does not want the American people to see the truth. And they acted on it by filing this protective order, which is an effort to keep important information about this case from the press.”

Chutkan gave Trump a week to respond to the media request, which he has yet to do, but Smith’s court filing notes that the former president’s counsel “has requested that government counsel convey that he takes no position with respect to these Applications.”

On Aug. 1, Trump was indicted in connection to his alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 election leading up to the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol. Smith’s yearslong investigation...

A little sunshine never hurt anything.

That reminds me...as a kid growing up in the deep south I watched cockroaches scattering when the lights got turned on. Cratroaches?

The morons (Libtard judges and lawyers) only want cameras in courtrooms to get name recognition to build their careers on a national level. Recently, the examples of their "best and brightest" looking like complete fools made them camera shy.

It doesn’t add up to me. If they supposedly have a slam dunk case, like they claim they do, wouldn’t they want cameras in the courtroom?

If it were a legitimate court, that would be correct.

It’s a kangaroo court, and they won’t be able to kangaroo it if it is televised.

The “judge” in Alex Jones’ Sandy Hook case turned the camera on and off to fit the official narrative.

The fact that Jones was not allowed a jury trial for the guilt phase, was not allowed to plead innocent, and was not allowed to present a defense was not televised. The jury trial was for the judgement phase, and the judge told the jury Jones was guilty and had more money than God.

They want to do the same thing to Trump.

One thing I learned from the Zimmerman and Rittenhouse trials, was that when the cameras are on, the media gets exposed as the bald faced liars that they are

Even then, they still try to distort the facts that everyone just saw with their our eyes

Let the sun shine in

Trumps lawyers don’t want this? Are they nuts? Trump should be pounding on the table to broadcast this stuff.

It's an anti-trump judge. If she even suspected President Trump actually wanted cameras she would see to it the opposite happened.

Besides the media is foaming at the mouth for this. Why get in their way when they are doing all the work for you?

Jack (Off) Smith is afraid that the media exposure will help the Trump campaign And he wants America to be restricted in knowledge about the case. Its a presidents duty ti challenge any election whichi has serious defects. And Trump is complete;y covered in his actions, just as Democrats have been over the years when they used process to challenge election results. Jack (Off) Smiths case is a kangaroo court case, and shiuld have been dismissed on a preliminary motion . but for the lefty commie judge, an Obama appointee, Smutkin.
