The man suspected in Wednesday's massacre that killed 18 people in Lewiston, Maine, has been found dead, sources told the NBC10 Boston Investigators Friday night.
Robert Card was the subject of a dayslong manhunt that followed mass shootings at the Just-In-Time Recreation bowling alley and Schemengees Bar and Grille.
The update comes after days of angst as an armed and dangerous man was unaccounted for after 18 people were killed and 13 injured.

I've attended some presentations on mental health, and the most frequent hallucination befalling schizophrenics is auditory (voices). And, the voices are rarely kind or friendly.
I strongly suspect that it would be in violation of several laws for such an individual to obtains or possess firearms.

True! But I know that all of these mass murderers have been found to have had treatable mental conditions. And that denotes a failed mental health system.
So tired, so weary of the mind-numbing impact of these tragic events...My prayers are up for the victims and their families. They are in my thoughts every time I leave my house with "Mr. Sig" along for the ride.

I have undergone a "hearing voices" exercise as part of law enforcement Crisis Intervention Team training.
You wear a headset and various voices...sometimes right ear only, sometimes left ear only, sometimes two or more voices in both ears saying stuff like "you are a loser" or "you are such a rotten creature that you do not deserve to live".
In training there is a volume control.
In real life there is none.
Do you know the cost to the families of those killed by these people? Do you know the cost if the gun grabbers get their way?
You just have to pass the laws with safeguards.
We have “laws with safeguards”...preventing authorities in New York from sharing critical information with authorities in Maine.
People have to agree to be treated and either they refused treatment or none was available.
So what?
Anyone can get a gun.

itis harder to commit someone for longer periods because of our rights to not be committed without strict legal rules. familes have the right to have someone committed for evaluation in a psychiatric hospital. they can fill out forms that go to a judge. patient is held until their insurance runs out...then there are no govt facillities for the patient to go to cause taxpayers will not pay for that.
In about 2006 give or take a few years my wife was seeing a shrink for PTSD and clinical depression. A threat to no one as she was quadriplegic. A shrink placed her on Zoloft and Trazadone to treat her. In a few months over a days time she changed radically. She became agitated and was halucinating. I took her to a hospital which had a pysch unit also. Things went down hill fast.
The attending dork in the ER said I'm calling mobile crisis to have her sent to a mental facility. I said hang on I want a MRI of her brain and bloodwork done first. He said no. I went to call a family member and when I returned to the exam room a guard was posted at the door and I went in and she was unconscious. I yelled get a doctor in here Stat. I used to work in nursing homes myself. So did she. I told the doctor she is unconscious you need to treat her now do te scan do the blood work. He said No. I said you stupid &&&&& what mental condition causes this then? He said I called mobile crisis. I had my dad to pull our van to the entrance and I left with her to go to another hospital that was level one.
When we got there the got her conscious and were fixing to order test and do labs when I told them what happened at the previous ER. They said were calling mobile crisis. I said No she is not going to a mental hospital before test are done. They said you can't have her stay here. I said I sign her name all the time now call her primary care doctor first agian he said no.
Mobile crisis shows up and I tell them I want her to have a MRI and blood work and they refuse and I am not sending her to any mental facility until this happens. They said she stays here they will treat her. I asked how come I was having no say? They told me because it was mental.
OK short version. She stayed there a week third night of no meds she was fine no more hallucinations. In pops Dr Happy Pill and puts her right back on what she just had. At noon she took it and at 1:00pm she was hallucinating and thrashing.
I went home to clean up and went on line to a search engine entering Trazadone/Zolft adverse reactions. BINGO it was Serotonin Syndrome. I called the hospital and talked to the floor supervisor and said I'm on my way back and do not give her any more meds except Ativan or Xanax until I get there. I printed the report I found and brought it with me.
I showed it to the nurse and I told her no more Zoloft No More Trazadone I waant to see her doctor this is a very serious adverse reaction that can kill her. Nurse Rachett said No he'll be by in the morning. I said you had best not give her any more of it.
Next morning house doc comes in and starts blessing me out over meds. I showed him the article an alert actually by a pharmacology professor. The doctor glanced and said rubbish. I said read the authors name and where he teaches. It was his professor.
Next night about 2:00 am she was ok again. Doctor came in and they FINALLY took her for a MRI. Two Brain Bleeders one old one fresh as in very recent.
Not one doctor ever acknowledged what had happened. She was discharged next day and then the following day she Finally Got To See Herr Primary Care Doc who saw her and said "What in the world did they do to you"? She had beat herself black and blue because law says no restraints. Fast forward in 2015 after 30 years as her husband and caregiver I signed the medical papers and she passed the next day from incurable Pnuemonia. That is rthe laws.
We have billions to help Ukraine but very little for our own mental health needs .
