The Biden White House will issue an executive order on Monday in an early effort to regulate the AI industry, per reports.

Axios reports that the White House will host an event on ensuring “safe, secure and trustworthy artificial intelligence” at 2:30 pm eastern time on Monday, during which an executive order on the industry is expected to be announced.

The event comes shortly before Vice President Kamala Harris (named “AI Czar” by the Biden administration earlier this year) and Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo are set to appear in the United Kingdom for an international summit on AI.

And I will add that any effort to “control AI” inside the US is pointless because China (and many other countries) will do what they want to do. Any “success” from Biden’s little effort will just put us further behind our adversaries.

For the record: I think AI is a bad thing that is going to really eff us all up. But I see no way to stop it. And efforts to stop it will backfire.

Decades ago Hillary proposed that gov't take the role of "gatekeeper" of the internet. It's no surprise that now they want to censor and control AI.
