Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) attacked Republican primary frontrunner Donald Trump in a clip shared from the campaign trail on social media, asserting that the former president has a “sense of entitlement” and accusing him of being unable to “get off that teleprompter.”
“He is wedded to the teleprompter. He can’t get off that teleprompter. Anytime he does, he says things like, ‘Don’t vote.’ He’s telling people not to vote,” DeSantis began, adding that Trump lost the popular vote to twice-failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton in 2016, arguing that “you don’t have all the votes you need.”
DeSantis continued:
And so I think that it’s just shown [that] this is a different Donald Trump than 2015 and ’16. [He] lost the zip on his fastball, has a sense of entitlement, all this stuff, doesn’t think he has to go through and earn it like other candidates, and that’s just not going to fly in Iowa [and] New Hampshire.
He did not mention Trump’s consistently tremendous leads in both New Hampshire and Iowa throughout the GOP primary.
Tuesday’s RealClearPolitics (RCP) average of polls, for example, showed Trump up by an average of 33 points in Iowa and 30.8 points in New Hampshire. Notably, DeSantis slipped to third place in the Granite State in RCP’s averages.
“And that’s why, you know, how this came to be with Iowa and New Hampshire…I’m glad that it works this way because I do think you got to earn it,” DeSantis, who is currently blitzing the Hawkeye State by visiting every county, continued.
DeSantis also emphasized the need to have a candidate who can win the general election, contending that there are “too many people that just are not going to vote for Trump at this point” while pointing to the impact of Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s independent bid.

He wouldn’t be able to call Kennedy names and that kind of match up I think might bring out the substance in Trump. At least we wouldn’t be hearing as much about travel bans or stopping the war in Ukraine in 24 hours.
So says Ron “Eephus” DeSantis.
Donald Trump sure works harder for his “entitlement” than anyone I’ve ever seen.
Won’t even listen to him until he cuts the strings that Club for Growth is pulling.
Oh yea, Desanctimonius. Who was his choice for speaker? Oh, nobody cared...
He’s right. Trump’s charm used to let him get away with mispronouncing words, saying stupid things, flip-flopping. His peeps would have to explain what he meant. Now it’s not so charming.
Geez, this man is tone deaf. Teleprompter? If anything, Trump speaks his own mind off the cuff too much.
It’s DeSantis that has to get his talking points from handlers or he ends up putting his foot in his mouth. And he has retarded handlers so he ends up putting his foot in his mouth even when they write his script.
“I think DeSantis, Haley and the rest, take the position, that nobody has actually voted yet, so they stay in because they think they can make inroads against Trump.”
They’re staying in hoping the Democrats will succeed at illegally denying Trump’s access to the ballot, so that they might even have the slightest chance of winning a primary.
Which makes them enemy collaborators.
He and Trump are living in the same head all right...but it's not Trump's head they're living in.
Remember what a great mayor Giuliani was and how beloved he was as “America’s Mayor?”.... Then he ran for president . Didn’t translate.
I see it this way too. Fine, no one has voted but if IA and NH look anything like the polls everyone needs to drop out. I’d say even before SC, or you’re just playing spoiler.
I’ve been a Ron supporter for awhile.
Stop digging Ron and for God sake, fire your advisers.
It amazes me that, after all Pres Trump is going through, that he still maintains his fight and coherency.
God bless Pres. Trump.
And Ron DeSantis is turning out to be a gigantic disappointment.
I had hoped to support him for VP in 2024, then for Pres in 2028.
But to quote “Chief” Inspector Clouseau, “Nit enny meer.”
Fastball > Meatball
Well, their priority is themselves, not the good of the party, or the good of the country. And Trump’s popularity is a direct threat to them and their narcissistic goals.
:I pray for his sanity so that when he DOES sit back down as our President, he doesn't go nuclear.
He’s right. Trump refuses to debate or be interviewed by anybody but fans, and he then comes out and says things that completely reverse his earlier MAGA positions but his fans just shrug and go along.
He refuses to accept responsibility for the disastrous shutdown, the vaccine, and handing his presidency over to one of the most evil deep-state people in government, Fauci.
He is a showman and for many people, he is more a symbol of something that is gone and that they want back (the pre-shut down world, even though he was responsible for the shutdown) than a real person or candidate. He one time said he could shoot somebody in the middle of Fifth Ave. And they would still follow him. Guess he was right.
He has lost as much zip on his fastball as Nolan Ryan did in his early 40’s. He struck out so many ‘young stars’ after that.
Apparently the voters can’t find much about DeSantis that is charming. That includes the clownish elevator shoes and that now famous deer in the headlights look.
He really needs to stop digging. Get out of the race today, endorse Trump, and actively campaign for him.
