CNN’s Coates: Maine Shooter Picked ‘Soft Targets’ Where He Didn’t Think He’d Get a Response, Didn’t Pick a Gun Range
Breitbart ^ | 10/26/2023 | IAN HANCHETT

During an interview with Active Shooter Prevention Project founder Chris Grollnek that took place during CNN’s coverage of the shooting in Lewiston, Maine on Wednesday, host Laura Coates noted that one spot that the shooter targeted was a bowling alley with children in it and that the shooter was “not going to a gun range. This is not going to a place where perhaps he would believe he could encounter people who could respond.” And that he picked “soft targets.”

Coates said, “And I’m looking — of course, in the photo that we’re seeing, he’s at a bowling alley. We’ve heard from eyewitnesses, they saw children running out of this bowling alley. It could have potentially had many children inside. This is not going to a gun range. This is not going to a place where perhaps he would believe he could encounter people who could respond. These are essentially soft targets. What do you make of that?”

but apparently not in bowling allies or bars?

Texas is a CC state, but you can't carry in a bar. I imagine emotion-driven laws like this are common.

THIS is where the problem is - how the mentally ill are treated - the streets of San Francisco are full of raving, mentally ill, homeless lunatics who should be in a locked facility for not only our safety but their own.

Be careful of what you wish for. Many on the left consider us mental cases, because we think people with testicles are men. They'd lock us all up in loony bins if they could. Scratch a liberal and they bleed authoritarian.

Supposedly he was a firearms instructor so he probably knew to stay away from a gun range. Those customers are usually well armed and know how to shoot.

Other states you can carry in places that serve alcohol. More like Applebees than The Watering Hole though. Has to do with majority food sales over booze. Still can’t drink while carrying though. But what I’m saying is… not one other gun in a CC state surprises me. I’d be carrying in the bowling alley posted or not. I don’t usually go to bars. Not my thing.

These shooters are all created by the shrinks using drugs. It’s good for the shrinks’ bottom lines. They create the loonies and then demand govt money to “treat” them. You’ll find every shooter is already being “treated” with drugs that are labeled for causing homicidal and suicidal ideation.

Add a little hypnosis under drugs and voila! Another mass shooter.

And people are generally nice and law abiding.

I am just poorly socialized or something and refuse to be disarmed. Because things like this can and do happen.

...but it is ALWAYS the AR-15’s fault....no matter what kind of deranged person pulls the trigger, it is always and evermore will be the gun’s fault....just wait for it....that PoS of a President, Biden, will soon come out calling for yet another ban on these assault rifles [sic], probably before he jets off to Delaware for yet another long weekend....

Cue the ATF proposing new anti red dot “regulation “.

What’s disappointing here is that no one had weapons of self-defense on them apparently. Maine is a Constitutional Carry State. With what’s coming to this nation, more and more of us need to be armed in order to defend ourselves and the nation. Law Enforcement never shows up until after the fact, those pack’n heat can be on scene when it happens, and just perhaps save some lives, while taking out the shooter. I’ve been carrying for years, and just this week started carrying an extra magazine. What has come across our Southern Border and preparing to strike across this nation is not going to be pretty. Quite frankly, I was surprised to discover this was not an illegal immigrant that broke out in Maine last night.

In commierado you can ccw in a bar. You can even drink as long as below .08 but still not recommended. I was at a happy hour downtown Denver with my frau and a bunch of her coworkers. One asked if I was carrying and she just pointed at the bottled water I was drinking.

I think the retired LEO present in the bowling alley could have legally carried, had he kept up with qualification, and abstained from drinking. You’d think he’d at least have had a handgun in his vehicle.
