Russian anti-war activist dies after ‘fall from height’ Olga Nazarenko was well-known for her stubborn protests against the Kremlin

A Russian anti-war protester who became a symbol of resistance to the Kremlin has died in a mysterious fall.

Local media said that Olga Nazarenko had now died in hospital after a “fall from a height” two weeks ago that was described as an accident.

Several Kremlin opponents have been killed in falls and an anti-war activist in Rostov, southern Russia, also died this year in police custody from alleged torture.

...Hundreds of thousands of Russians have fled since the Kremlin banned anti-war protests but Nazarenko, who was married with an adult daughter and a young son, told the US-funded Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty that she felt that it was her duty to stay.

“Russia is my country, not just those in power and their supporters. I won’t let anyone drive me out of my country,” she said last year.

"The Russian army has copied Wagner and has also been signing up convicts from Russian prisons since the start of the year to plug gaps in front-line units but now recruiters are targeting migrants, often from Central Asia.

On Friday, Russian riot police raided a mosque in a Moscow commuter town and forced the men to join the army."

“died in a mysterious fall”.

Not exactly one for ‘Unsolved mysteries’ though.

Meanwhile, an American citizen, Gonzalo Lira, remains a political prisoner in Ukraine, all while hypocrites like you praise the Zelensky regime as some kind of example of freedom and democracy.

You're a joke.

The “clumsiest” most accident prone people in the world must have all moved to Russia! The same country that gave us the Bolshoi Ballet. ///

Gonzalo Lira was already living in Ukraine, in the city of Kharkiv, when the Russians invaded last year. He decided to stay and support the enemy from there. While doing this, he broke several local laws and the police arrested him.

In August, he was set free on bail (his trial is pending) and he immediately announced (on Twitter or “X”) that he will leave the country and cross the border into Hungary to ask for political asylum there.

Of course, as a US citizen, you cannot get political asylum in the European Union (which Hungary is a part of) but his claims were aimed at his YouTube followers, and these folks do not care if what Gonzalo is telling them is true or not.

It doesn’t matter anyway, your man never crossed the border. By attempting to do so, he violated his bail conditions and is now in an even bigger mess than before.

Why was he arrested?
