House Republican Vice Chair Rep. Mike Johnson (R-La.) became the chamber’s Speaker on Wednesday, three weeks after Speaker Kevin McCarthy was ousted.
Johnson became his conference’s fourth Speaker nominee on Tuesday, and he takes over in the midst of multiple international crises, most notably in Israel, Gaza and Ukraine. There has been a split in the House GOP over aid to Ukraine as they face a war against Russia, making the passage of some recent bills a tough hill to climb in the lower chamber.
President Biden announced the sending of a budget request to Congress requesting aid for both Israel and Ukraine in a speech last Thursday. The request is expected to be about $100 billion, with a large portion of the funds for Ukraine.
Johnson has shown some resistance to more funding for Ukraine in the past, but seems to wholeheartedly support Israel.
Here’s what you need to know about his history of views on both conflicts:

See my Post 11...There is a border security bill already passed by the House. It’s at the Senate now.
And remember, this is just the official debt. I’ve heard estimates of over 100 trillion in unfunded liabilities,
And what about interest on the debt? With interest rates rising, we have got to be spending well over a trillion a year just on interest on what’s already been borrowed.
You probably have some really good points but I a not going to read them because I don’t want to run into the inevitable b/c which is used instead of the actual word because. I am seriously annoyed y people who say b/c and w/ for the sake of saving 2 or 4 keystrokes when your computer will gladly complete a word for you.
........remember..........
<><>this is just the “official debt” Bidenomics produced.
<><>There’s estimates of over $100 trillion in unfunded liabilities.
<><>and what about interest on the debt while interest rates keep rising?
<><>we must be spending well over a $trillion a year just on interest for previous borrowings.
We most definitely have an interest in the two hostile nations that can destroy us.
Don’t ever do a continuing resolution for anything, get back to individual bills and absolutely no pork bills...but I digress.
I’ll second that!
From some of the speeches i have heard from this guy, whom i have never heard of, my GF who passed away Aug 2, who loved this country and prayed every day for a revival here, is now i beleive sitting at the US lobby section in front of the Father and telling him in no uncertain terms that he (God) needs to support and help this guy save our country. amen.
and fourth he is next in line to be president after kamiltoe.
Do you have the bill number?
There is a website that lists all bills and resolutions, what progress they’ve made, etc., but I neglected to save the link. :-(
Johnson said the 1st thing the House would do (starting shortly this afternoon after his appearance B4 the press) was pass a bill for support to Israel.
Excellent

(Good article.)
The estimate for 2023 is $663 billion in fiscal year 2023, but the next decade looks much worse unless something happens to crash interest rates (which would likely be very bad itself.)
Thx for your important input.
Committees and Caucuses Speaker Johnson is on:

There’s a “Rice Caucus”? Sheesh...
Prayers for Mr. Johnson and his family. In the present environment we don’t know what evil may be perpetrated against him or members of his family. Also, that he would have the courage necessary to withstand all the hate that will be directed against him if he indeed does seek to reign in spending and gives priority to conservative goals.
