Based on what I've seen from numerous posters on this website, even *suggesting* this as a possibility is somehow anti-Semitic or anti-Israeli (as though the government of the state of Israel were somehow incapable of performing the same brutal calculus as any other country).
Although sheer incompetence seems more likely at this point in time, I don't think your idea is out of the realm of possibility.
