I don’t know if I’d go to that extreme, but at a minimum fire every Israeli official who was involved in disarming the kibbutzes. The death toll was so high because Israel does not trust its own citizens to defend themselves.

I too find this very perplexing. I cannot fathom how this could have been done with Israel being caught completely off guard. It is at odds with everything i've ever seen about Israeli competence.
