Gaetz says those voting against Jordan are trying to punish 8 conservatives who voted to remove McCarthy

lorida Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz told reporters on Friday that he and other conservatives who voted to remove former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy have offered to face removal from the House Republican conference.

"If what people need is to see the 8 of us wrapped on the knuckles in order to get on to the business of governing" than we are open to consequences, Gaetz said, which includes removal from the conference.

Gaetz said he and the other conservatives would stay Republicans.

Gaetz and Rep. Tim Burchett, R-Tenn., argued that the Republican holdouts voting against Jordan are doing so to punish the group of conservatives that voted to ouster McCarthy.

210 Republicans voted to keep McCarthy but Gaetz and 7 other Republicans voted with all the Democrats to remove him.

Because he did not live up to his promises. He gave Biden a blank check for two years, more than the Dems were even asking.

The deal McCarthy agreed to be elected Speaker was that if even one member desired he could call for a motion to vacate. And that's what happened.

If McCarthy would have fought the Dems on their out of control spending and stood with the conservatives, he would still be Speaker today.

The nation may be too far gone already. When we ceased to be a Godly nation, we ceased to be good. It got in the way of being able to vote trillions of dollars to perverse special interests and parasites from those who worked and were Godly.

The J6 issue is the greatest crime against Americans and the Constitution ...these people are political prisoners deprived of due process. Every Congressional representative should have been beating down the doors of the “Justice” department from 01/20/21 onward.

crickets.....the entire Congress is bought, owned and manipulated beyond their own comprehension and awareness..even the “ggod guys” -often by the very institutions with which Congress is in charge of regulating and providing oversight.

You can’t whip 218 votes AGAINST a sitting speaker while that speaker is in power.

If you don't see that Gartz and the others were in no position to “whip” 218 votes, then no one can help you.

No. I'm the one who said that Gaetz was in no position to "whip" 218 votes. You can't even "see" correctly what I posted.

The leadership can distribute benefits and penalties in order to get the votes together. Gaetz and company had nothing to offer, and having set an example of rebelliousness for the rest, they were in no position to “whip” anyone.

Geez, the leadership in a position of power whipping up votes to see who should be in leadership.

What ever could go wrong with that?

Look around. Our current leadership doesn't play hard ball with the president and the Senate. It takes all three, both legislative bodies and the president to get something done. From Boehner, to Ryan, to McCarthy, our "Young Guns" are establishment cowards who have failed. Our dollar has become a joke. Our debt has destroyed our savings and has become a security risk. We are reaching a point where we can no longer fund our own defense.

A noncorrupt bold leadership whipping up votes on various things is a good thing.

BUT, there obviously comes a point where the leadership has become so corrupt, so cowardly and so inept, that you can't have them whipping up the next leader. They need to be replaced, by the representatives of the people, without any fear of retribution.

Sure it's a difficult messy task. But there is no alternative.

You don't see that, do you.

Right, that's why McCarthy's last proposed spending bill, would have cut government spending and why EVERY democrat voted to get rid of McCarthy. Okay

Document the cut.

The cut was based on a baseline that included the spending orgy that has been passed over the last three years.

Document the cut.

Its worth noting that EVERY democrat voted against the bill.

Of course. It was the House Republicans first offer. No way the Democrats take the first offer without making a counter offer.

Again, I asked to document the cut, the baseline and the trillions in spending increases over the last three years that are now part of the baseline.

We will continue to go nowhere electing individuals under the Republican label when, once elected, they insist on voting in opposition to it. The Demonrats don’t put up with that crap. If a single one of their House members ventured off the plantation to either vote GOP for Speaker or to sandbag their designated Speaker candidate, that member would never see the light of day again.

They manage to achieve quite a level of “purity of essence” (take a look at their voting habits, nearly 100% of their members vote in almost 100% lockstep). Yet expecting that of Republican members is somehow bad and will lose votes ?

Whut ?
