Tesla, General Motors, and Ford have reportedly all hit the brakes on electric vehicle (EV) production, citing concerns of economic uncertainties fears of a slowdown in EV demand.
On Wednesday, Tesla joined General Motors and Ford in being cautious about expanding EV production capacity, with the company’s CEO Elon Musk saying he was worried that higher borrowing costs would prevent potential customers from affording Tesla vehicles, according to a report by Reuters.
“People hesitate to buy a new car if there’s uncertainty in the economy,” Musk reportedly said on a post-earnings call. “I don’t want to be going into top speed into uncertainty.”

Well......Big Government has stated they will start building and opening retail stores in the inner cities, the same places Big Government has ruined and chased out private retailers. Soon it will no longer be ‘news’ that Walgreens, CVS, Target, Walmart, etc have closed stores.
So, will Big Government start producing their own EVs? The UAW is on strike, in part due to the ridiculous EV mandates. I can just see the Hussein/Biden Regime ‘hiring’ all the unemployed auto workers to produce the government EVs. General Motors (GM) will become Government Motors. The GM EVs will be similar in size to the not so Smart Car.
Some of the democRAT controlled parts of the country will mandate purchase of the GM cars.
The democRATS refuse to increase the electricity supply while mandating use of electricity (cars, lawnmowers, stoves, etc). Their ultimate goal, as usual, is control. Once everyone has to purchase an EV, rationing of electricity is next. You will have carbon footprint limits: daily, weekly, monthly, yearly, and yes, lifetime. If you go over your daily or weekly ration limit, you can ‘borrow’ from your lifetime limit. Once your lifetime limit is reached, be sure to keep your bicycle in good shape.
Since EVs are the second or third car in a household, the buyers have the dollars to spend. They probably have one or more ICE auto/trucks to use when needed.
I just remembered a great example of the liberal entitlement mindset of many EV buyers. There is a video of this. This man has his garage door open as he is doing some weekend chores. He has a Tesla charger on the wall of his garage. This lady he has never met drives up and plugs HER Tesla in to charge. He tries to explain this is not a public charging station, but she doesn’t care. She has her Tesla. She is ‘saving the planet’ and is entitled to the electricity.
I also just remembered the EV bidirectional charging mandate of several democRAT States. Bidirectional charging means the State can take the energy in your EV and use it in the grid ‘when necessary.’ Kalifornia has legislation to mandate that every EV have this feature. They state that in an electricity/power crisis, they must have access to all the EVs, to all that power stored in each EV. Just imagine, you plug in your EV at dinner time, fully expecting to drive to work in the morning. You wake up and Big Brother has taken the electricity. From each, according to their need. They decided they need it more than you do.
A huge EV factory is going up north of Kokomo, Indiana. I have predicted that it is doomed to failure, and this article leds credence to that prediction.
I own a Tesla. An amazing car by any measure and is also the most American made car on the market and it is untouched by UAW hands. That said any time the government steps in and pushes the market in any direction, for any reason, the public suffers. If you want an EV, buy one. If you don’t get an ICE. It is not the governments job to push the market around using the leverage of the dollars that they took from the people who make up that market.
The current state of technology with EV’s makes them nothing more than expensive toys. Until a massive leap is made in battery technology that’s all they’ll remain.
No fan of him. Absolutely no fan of his cars.
But another credit: he got the Chinese to build him a factory to make his cars. EVs tank, as it looks like they are, it’s their loss, not his.
However, in having them build his factory, any money kicked back to them goes to the CCP and it’s mandatory that they have access to the technology.
OK, now that was funny.
How about the fact that EVs blow up real good when they get wet? What’s that? Only when it’s salt water? Have you ever heard of hurricanes?!
Not looking forward to dealing with hurricanes AND electric cars—on the road or in parking garages and driveways when they blow up and start fires.
These darn EV things shouldn’t be on the road.
Marshall, Michigan has a 2,500 acre site being built for a Ford battery plant. It was full steam till a couple weeks back. I think construction has been all but halted.
EVs make sense in Europe because mass transit is more common there. It is more densely populated over there. America is huge and spread out. Like Russia. They’re not using EVs in Russia.

The article is still biased against Tesla, in regards to "Tesla’s financial performance in the recent quarter didn’t meet the industry’s expectations.".
Musk had announced ahead of the last quarter that they were shutting down some production lines for retooling and updates, and that their numbers would reduce. So-called analysts ignored this. The production numbers and profits will increase in the next quarter due to the upgrades of the production lines. They're producing more lines and vehicles while GM struggles to produce a couple dozen EV cars. Of note is the Cybertruck which will debut Nov 30th for delivery to customers.
I know a lot of people hate Musk and Tesla but facts are important.
Okay, yes there is economy issues now.
But think that is minor compared to the technical issues. The technical issues with the batteries need to come a long way yet.
With a Internal Combustion Engine you can effect the life expectancy of the most costly part of your car with how you handle the maintenance of the car.
The only thing you can do with the battery of your electric car to extend the life of the battery is to always SLOW charge the battery.
If you use your electric car the same way most people use their ICE car that is inconceivable.
The electric car simply can never replace the Gasoline powered car until they come up with an entirely new battery tech and solve a multitude of other issues.
They are not fears any more ... hardly anyone is buying the overpriced golf carts. Dealers have them spaced all over the lot to look like a larger inventory. When you go in they pounce on you like prey. Went in. Sales person asked me if I would like to look at EVs ... I said no ... do I look crazy ...no but I’ll look at that used Jeep Wrangler...

The old time idea of freedom and capitalism allowed people to choose they wanted something (automatic transmission instead of stick shift) and buy more of it. And more rear window defrosters and fewer 8 track players.
Today the forcing of humble subjects to bow to the needs of the climate change or socialist masters is going to face some pushback.
I have owned and driven pickup trucks for over 50 years. There is NO way I could ever buy one that is electric. The range, capacity, comfort, and life of EV pickups meet zero of my needs. I once drove my 2011 half ton pickup and trailer over a weight scale, which measured it to be over 19,000 pounds. It drove home just fine. (I took the back roads.) I just returned from a 1400 mile doctor’s appointment(surgery at the Mayo clinic) in the same pickup (no trailer). The driving took 2 days. It would have taken more than a week because of charging an EV. I generally have driven them far more years and miles than any EV even dreams of achieving. They surely would go through more battery packs and self immolations than an EV could ever achieve. The one good point is that I park them outside, so, at lease, it wouldn’t burn down my home.
Good point. I haven't seen that one mentioned in awhile. Although I haven't seen any Teslas limping along like they use to when supercharging was spotty.
Who paid for it?
Did the taxpayers of Nevada pay for it?
Did the Governor and legislature drop some insane tax break on that so, basically, the Nevada taxpayer is actually footing the bill?

As if Gov consulted Musk to get viable Production figures before popping off, posturing and preening for the cameras and microphones of the ‘Climate Change’ sycophants?
Musk builds EV’s, among his several enterprises.
Grid maturity and market size are among his INTERESTS, but they aren’t his problems.
If The Grid is NEVER mature enough to support all that government is bloviating about, that’s none of Musk’s concern.
Whether or not government keeps flogging the public to artificially grow the ultimate size of the EV market isn’t really Musk’s problem.
Musk’s singular concern is whether or not enough people want his cars to make Tesla a profitable venture in any given period of time.
You can’t legitimately castigate Musk over government-instigated conditions.
