Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) will not seek an additional speaker vote Thursday, and he will back a plan to give Rep. Patrick T. McHenry (R-N.C.), the temporary speaker, additional powers, according to multiple people who spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe the situation. After two rounds of votes, a group of Republicans had made clear that Jordan did not have enough support to win the speaker’s gavel. With House functions at a standstill, lawmakers can now consider a proposal to expand McHenry’s powers.

I suspect that in my lifetime we will never see a conservative speaker of the house from the GOP.

This is a major disappointment, and very harmful to the U.S. This allows the unAmerican Communist Party, formerly known as dimmocraps, to negate the narrow margin of Repubs majority in the House. Kudos to the 20 Repub traitors.

He still sucks. Where are the Jan. 6 tapes? He gave the Dems everything they wanted. Rather have this dummy banging the gavel like an ape. He’s too dim to negotiate with the dems.

Nothing has changed Kevin McCarthy, he will always be a non leader which is why he was removed.
What has changed is that now we have the names of 20 rinos (Hamas wing) that need to be removed to save the Republican party.
In the meantime we don’t need another weak leader.
This is why we lose. Our side compromises and their side never gives up. And so continues our slide into oblivion...

Yes, it is disappointing but I believe McHenry is only in the position until January. Congress barely shows up to work as it is, with the Thanksgiving and Christmas breaks conservatives need to do what they can to delay and obstruct. Big problem will be the budget. Watch how many of these 20+ clowns vote to give more money to Ukraine than to border security or Israel. If they have the guts to face their constituents when Congress is in recess let them know you are actively looking for their replacement.
We no longer have budgets, we no longer have Speakers, but we have lawfare, we have an imperial president kept far above any law, we have our own Stassi, we have our own KGB.
What we don’t have is America.
Actually, it displays some common sense. There is such confusion and in-fighting in the GOP that we were on the verge of getting a radical leftist Dem, Hakeem Jeffries, as Speaker.
The GOP routinely shoots itself in the foot. I’m sure Gaetz meant well, but he should have gotten the support lined up in advance. In other words, act like a member of a real political party, which none of the GOP - RINO or MAGA - is capable of doing.
When you compromise with evil, just just get more evil...............
