Pro-Hamas protests show how higher education has finally crossed the line
New York Post ^ | Oct. 15, 2023 | Glenn H. Reynolds

With the horrific massacre, rapes and infant murders and kidnappings Hamas proudly perpetrated in Israel, much of the American academic community, especially at elite universities, sided with . . . Hamas.

It is not playing well.

Harvard has been the most talked-about example, because, well, it’s Harvard.

...

Harvard students have since deleted their statement, though it still lives on the Internet, of course.

They deleted it because many major firms announced they won’t hire anyone on the list. Some have even asked for membership lists of the student organizations involved so they can make sure not to hire any students who belong.

A group called Accuracy in Media has been sending billboard trucks around Harvard Square naming the students involved, which some have called “doxing,” though publicly naming the public authors of a public statement hardly seems to rise to that level.

Winston & Strawn, a top law firm where Democratic Vice President Walter Mondale was once a partner, rescinded a job offer for an NYU law student who issued a pro-Hamas proclamation.

This was followed by Harvard’s Kennedy School losing billionaire philanthropist Idan Ofer and his wife Batia from its board. ..

our faith in the University’s leadership has been broken and we cannot in good faith continue to support Harvard and its committees,” said the couple, worth $20 billion.

...

Bill Ackman, a hedge-fund founder, slammed Harvard too and was joined by a number of his fellow CEOs.

The message: Harvard is no longer morally worthy of our money, and we don’t want to hire its students.

The major law firms, hedge funds and Wall Street houses have had enough of woke students.

...

Ackman also called out another Ivy League institution, the University of Pennsylvania.

They’re just now figuring this out? I suppose all the other radical crap that’s come from these bastions of higher “education” is still considered valid.

People who live in their minds, like faculty members at university, eventually climb up to levels of abstraction at which reality gets completely turned on its head.

Why do the highest centers of education always fail the IQ test?

In this circumstance, that means failing to call out the elite cabal financing Hamas and planning terrorist acts.

“... higher education has finally crossed the line...”

How many times have we heard this from these BoomerCons, and then every institution, not just Universities, becomes even more radical.

Reality has a way of biting people who do not believe it exists.

The United States will be very lucky if this attack on Israel wakes up enough of the population to wake us out of the "Woke" fantasy.

David Horowitz was giving talks in universities a decade ago and always had a different light browned skinned girl with a headscarf yelling at him at every event.

The universities are seeded with every form of antisemitic and anti-American you can think of.

I don’t blame them. I would have to check the legal implications, of course, but if I owned a business or was in the position of hiring and firing, a job applicant with a woke university on their degree or transcript would immediate hit the round filing cabinet. No time for that nonsense.

How ill informed and out of touch can these CEOs and billionaires be that they are only just now realizing what has been general knowledge to commoners such as us for decades?

Sad arricle. Education “crossed the line” decades ago.

And yet, there are many people, even those on this board, who still support their alma mater (or the school with their favorite football team, or the school where their kids go, etc.) My alma mater, (Under the arm! Under the arm! Under the arm - Pitt) is one of the wokiest of the public universities. I don't give them a dime, despite the begging emails and phone calls that seem to find me wherever I move. Any money given by a conservative to a college these days, with few exceptions, is paying for the hit man being hired to kill us. Hope more people are now realizing what they have been supporting.

All education visas should be revoked and and they all should be sent back form where they came. I believe that the colleges are souly in control of this and not the government, this has to end. The clean up needs to begin
