I think Israel has known this would multi-front from the outset.

We will see how fast this escalates. The most potent weapon Iran really has is closing the Straits of Hormuz. That will cause great pain worldwide without creating a massive response attack on Iran itself. But who knows what this chaos will turn in to? I don’t think the current U.S. administration and the current U.S. military leadership is up to this kind of wildly unpredictable situation across practically an entire continent of potential fronts.

Well, that’s a 2-way street. Even without nukes or anything coming from Israel’s general direction, Israel has subs with cruise missiles that can substantially destroy a lot of Iran’s 4 big oil refineries. Combined with a shutdown of oil tankers moving out, Iran will have precious little gas and diesel (it imports 50% of what it uses, and no place to which to export its oil. And if Israel doesn’t do that, then the US certainly can (and will, at least according to Lindsey Graham Cracker). All in all, it won’t be a good day for Iran if they so much as mess up the hair of anyone in Israel.

If Iran etc. launch ground attacks on Israel, I don't see the US avoiding direct involvement- air, cruise missile strikes etc...China is now casting an even harder look at Taiwan; and Russia is certainly egging Iran on so as to complicate support for Ukraine.

History has more than one example of once great cultures that happened onto bad luck and bad leadership simultaneously. It doesn't end well for them.
